Gear selector lever assembly, reconditioning

Removing the gear selector assembly and cables

Remove the gear selector assembly and mechanical cables. See Removing the gear selector assembly and cables .

Lubricating and installing components in the gear selector assembly

Lubricate the gear selector lever ball joints and bevel arm bushings using grease, P/N 1161241-3.

Installing cables and gear selector assembly

Install the mechanical cables and the gear selector assembly. See Installing the cables and gear selector assembly .

Remove the gear selector assembly and cables from the XC90. See: Gearbox cables, replacing and on the S60 and V70. See: Transmission cables, replacing .

Remove

1. the catch for the bevel arm
2. bevel arm with bushing and spring
3. the cover for the gear selector lever ball joint. Pull up the ball joint, gear selector lever and rubber sleeve from the gear selector assembly
4. the solenoid.

Install a new link cap.

Lubricate the new link cap. Use grease, P/N 116 1241-3.

Lubricate the gear selector lever ball joints and bevel arm bushings. Use grease, P/N 116 1241-3.

Install

1. the rubber sleeve
2. the gear selector lever with ball joints and cover
3. the bevel arm with bushings, spring and retaining clip
4. the solenoid.
