Checking components and wiring

Check the resistance of the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) between terminals #3 and #4.

Check the signal cable between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #4 and control module terminal #A70 (#B10). Check the power supply between system relay terminal #5 and heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #3. Check for an open-circuit.

Remedy as necessary.

HINT: The fuel temperature sensor is integrated in the fuel pressure sensor.

Check the fuel pressure sensor connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.

Check the fuel pressure sensor resistance. Take readings between terminals #1 and #2.

Check the signal cable between control module terminal #A3 (#A3) and fuel pressure sensor terminal #2. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for an open-circuit.

Check the ground lead between control module terminal #A60 (#A60) and fuel pressure sensor terminal #1. Check for an open-circuit.

Remedy as necessary.

Check the signal cable (+) between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #4 and control module terminal #A61 (#B1). Check the signal cable (-) between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #3 and control module terminal #A62 (#B2). Check for an intermittent short-circuit to ground.

Checking wiring and connectors

Check the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connector. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check for loose connections.

Check the signal cable (+) between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #4 and control module terminal #A61 (#B1). Check the signal cable (-) between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #3 and control module terminal #A62 (#B2). Check for an intermittent open-circuit.

Checking the component and wiring

  1. Ignition off.
  2. Disconnect the fuel temperature sensor connector.
  3. Check the connectors. Check for loose connections. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation. Check the resistance of the sensor between #1 and #2 (to the sensor). Remedy as necessary. NOTE: Verifying is started with cold engine (+20 °C). Check heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) resistance between #1 and #2.

Check signal cable between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) #2 and control module #A35 (#A35) and power supply between system relay #3 and heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) #1 for an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .

Remedy as necessary.
