- INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Turn the Techstream on. Turn the A/C switch on. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for intake side). Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank1). Powertrain > Engine > Active Test Tester Display Control the VVT Linear (Bank1) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the Techstream. Standard Condition Techstream Operation Specified Condition 0% Normal engine speed 100% Engine idles roughly or stalls HINT: If the result is not as specified, allow the engine to cool (engine coolant temperature of 50°C (122°F) or less) and perform the Active Test again. DTCs related to the VVT system may be stored due to Active Test operation, but this does not indicate a malfunction. If the operation is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for exhaust side). Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank1). Powertrain > Engine > Active Test Tester Display Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank1) Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the Techstream. If the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. *1 O-ring

Check the operation. Minor pressure leaks in the exhaust side camshaft timing oil control valve assembly will cause the exhaust camshaft to retard. The inappropriate camshaft timing that results from these leaks will cause a DTC to be stored. If the result is not as specified, replace the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.
- INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side) Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Install the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly with the bolt. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: If the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it. Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly). Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or moved out of place when installing the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector.
- INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side) Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly. - INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY Check the throttle control motor operating sound. Turn the ignition switch to ON. When depressing the accelerator pedal, check the operating sound of the throttle control motor. Make sure that no friction noise is emitted from the throttle control motor. If any friction noise exists, replace the throttle body with motor assembly. Check the throttle position sensor. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Throttle Sensor Position. Powertrain > Engine > Data List Tester Display Throttle Sensor Position Fully depress the accelerator pedal. When the throttle valve is fully open, check that the Throttle Sensor Position value is within specification. Standard Throttle Valve Opening Percentage Tester Display Specified Condition Throttle Sensor Position 60% or higher NOTE: When checking the throttle valve opening percentage, the shift lever should be in P or N. Fully depress the accelerator pedal. If the percentage is less than 60%, check the throttle body with motor assembly, wire harness and ECM.

- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE Disconnect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly connector and disengage the wire harness clamp. Disengage the hose clamp and disconnect the vacuum switching valve assembly from the No. 1 air cleaner hose. Disengage the hose clamp. Slide the clip and disconnect the vacuum hose from the No. 1 air cleaner hose. Slide the clip and disconnect the ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly. Disengage the 2 air cleaner cap clamps. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose from the throttle body with motor assembly.
- REMOVE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY Disconnect the throttle body with motor assembly connector. Disengage the fuel tube sub-assembly from the clamp. Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose and No. 2 water by-pass hose from the throttle body with motor assembly. *1 No. 1 Water By-pass Hose *2 No. 2 Water By-pass Hose Remove the 4 bolts and throttle body with motor assembly from the intake manifold. NOTE: If the throttle body with motor assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.
- REMOVE FUEL HOSE BRACKET Remove the bolt and fuel hose bracket from the throttle body with motor assembly.
- REMOVE THROTTLE BODY GASKET Remove the throttle body gasket from the intake manifold.
- INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. *a Component without harness connected (Throttle Body with Motor Assembly) Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 (M-) - 2 (M+) 20°C (68°F) 0.3 to 100 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the throttle body with motor assembly.

- INSTALL FUEL HOSE BRACKET Install the fuel hose bracket to the throttle body with motor assembly with the bolt. Torque: 7.5 N*m (76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf)
- INSTALL THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY Install the throttle body with motor assembly to the intake manifold with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: If the throttle body with motor assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it. Connect the No. 1 water by-pass hose and No. 2 water by-pass hose to the throttle body with motor assembly and slide the 2 clips to secure them. Engage the fuel tube sub-assembly to the clamp. Connect the throttle body with motor assembly connector.
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE Install the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose to the throttle body with motor assembly. Engage the 2 air cleaner cap clamps. Tighten the hose clamp. Connect the ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly and slide the clip to secure it. Connect the vacuum hose to the No. 1 air cleaner hose and slide the clip to secure it. Engage the hose clamp. Connect the vacuum switching valve assembly to the No. 1 air cleaner hose and engage the hose clamp. Connect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly connector and engage the wire harness clamp.

- PERFORM INITIALIZATION NOTE: Be sure to perform this procedure after removing and reinstalling the throttle body with motor assembly or any throttle body with motor assembly components. Perform the following procedure after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly or any throttle body with motor assembly components. The following procedure should also be performed if the throttle body with motor assembly is cleaned. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - ]»(ref-636035-S20861638992014070700000) Turn the ignition switch to ON without operating the accelerator pedal. Perform the "Inspection After Repair". Refer to «INITIALIZATION [12/2013 - ]»(ref-636035-S12548220812014070700000) Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated. After the engine is warmed up, check that the idle speed is within the specified range with the A/C switch off. Standard Idle Speed 600 to 700 RPM NOTE: Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off. Make sure that the shift lever is in P or N. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Throttle Sensor Position. Powertrain > Engine > Data List Tester Display Throttle Sensor Position Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or higher. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.

- REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Disconnect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly connector and disengage the wire harness clamp. Remove the 2 bolts from the air cleaner assembly. Loosen the hose clamp and separate the air cleaner assembly from the No. 1 air cleaner hose. Separate the air cleaner assembly from the inlet air cleaner assembly. Disengage the clamp to remove the air cleaner assembly.
- REMOVE ECM Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: After disconnecting the ECM connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting parts of the ECM connectors. Disengage the wire harness clamp. Remove the 3 bolts and ECM. NOTE: If the ECM has been struck or dropped, replace it.
- REMOVE ECM BRACKET Remove the 2 screws and ECM bracket from the ECM.
- REMOVE NO. 2 ECM BRACKET Remove the 2 screws and No. 2 ECM bracket from the ECM.

- INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Engage the clamp to set the air cleaner assembly. Install the air cleaner assembly to the inlet air cleaner assembly. Install the air cleaner assembly to the No. 1 air cleaner hose and tighten the hose clamp. Install the 2 bolts to the air cleaner assembly. Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) Connect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly connector and engage the wire harness clamp.

Note. Perform the mass air flow meter sub-assembly inspection according to the following procedure. Only replace the mass air flow meter sub-assembly when the mass air flow meter sub-assembly value in the Data List (with the engine stopped) is not within the normal operating range or there is foreign matter on the mass air flow meter sub-assembly platinum hot wire (heater).
- INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY HINT: Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter sub-assembly. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [12/2013 - ]»(ref-636035-S12548220812014070700000) Read the value using the Techstream (MAF). NOTE: Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface. Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter sub-assembly while it is installed to the air cleaner cap sub-assembly (installed to the vehicle). During the test, do not use an exhaust air duct on the exhaust pipe. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (do not start the engine). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / MAF. Powertrain > Engine > Data List Tester Display MAF Wait for 30 seconds, and read the value on the Techstream. Standard Condition Tester Display Condition Standard Condition MAF Engine not running 30 seconds after ignition switch turned to ON 0.49 gm/sec or less If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.
