Inspection
Inspect the removed parts by comparing with new ones for deformation, damage and wear. Correct or replace if defective.
Confirm the following parts for operating condition before assembly. Moving condition of the select lever assembly, it should move smoothly.
Check the removed cable and replace if damaged, rusty, or malfunctioning.
Check for smooth operation of the cable.
Check the inner cable for damage and rust.
Check the outer cable for damage, bends, and cracks.
Check the boot for damage, cracks, and deterioration.
Move the select lever from "P" range to "1" range. You should be able to feel the detents in each range. If the detents cannot be felt or the range pointer is improperly aligned, adjust the cable.
CHECK SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID.
Measure the resistance of shift lock solenoid connector terminals.
Terminals
No. 4 - No. 5
Is the resistance between 20 and 40 O?
YES
Check each part (bushing, cushion rubber, spacer, boot, stay and rod, etc.) for deformation, damage and wear. Repair or replace any defective part. Determine defective parts by comparing with new parts.
