Timing, Adjust Adjustment Is Carried Out with the Engine Cold - at Room Temperature.
Release fastening bolts (3) for tension roller attachment. Press tension roller attachment (1) to the left, this relieves the pressure on the tensioning spring (4) and it can be disconnected.
Remove toothed belt from toothed belt gears of injection pump and camshaft - if necessary, turn toothed belt gears slowly and smoothly (short path) until the TDC fixing bolts (2) can be inserted.
Position the toothed belt first on the camshaft toothed belt gear, then on the injection pump toothed belt gear and attach tensioning spring Pull out TDC fixing bolts (2). Tension toothed belt, to do this turn crankshaft slowly and smoothly approx. 60 counter to the engine rotational direction, the toothed belt is tensioned automatically in this way.
Install toothed belt tension roller fastening bolts in cylinder block - 19 Nm / 14 lbf. ft.
Turn crankshaft slowly and uniformly in engine rotational direction two rotations (720) and check the adjustment of the valve timings by using the TDC setscrews. The tip of the oil pump must coincide with the mark on the crankshaft pulley.
Remove TDC fixing bolts.
Install upper toothed belt cover. Insert intermediate plate.
In vehicles with AC: insert V-belt tensioner. Position V-belt and tension with V-belt tensioner. Install lower bracket - tightening torque 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft. Install upper bracket - tightening torque 45 Nm / 33 lbf. ft.
Release engine from Engine Bridge MKM-883-1 and remove engine bridge.
It is only ensured that the intake system is free of leaks, thus ensuring operational safety of the engine, if the hose clamps are tightened correctly to the prescribed tightening torque.
Install air intake hose.
Install air cleaner housing - see operation "Air Cleaner Housing, Remove and Install".
