Note. Remove oil carbon residue from piston ring groove with broken and ground -down piston ring

Measure

  1. 3. Measure gap • Insert new piston rings in cylinder • 3 off • Measure gap with feeler gauge Piston Rings Permissible ring gap 1st compression ring (T) 0.25 – 0.35 mm 2nd compression ring (2T) 0.20 – 0.30 mm Oil scraper ring 0.20 – 0.40 mm Size marks of compression rings 1. Ring 2. Ring Standard none none Oversize 0.50 mm 50 50 Oversize 1.00 mm 100 100 Size marks for oil scraper rings Standard none Oversize 0.50 mm blue Oversize 1.00 mm yellow
  1. 4. Measure vertical play • Insert piston rings in grooves – 1st compression ring (T) – 2nd compression ring (2T) – Oil scraper ring • Measure vertical play with feeler gauge Piston Rings Permissible vertical play 1st compression ring (T) 0.090 – 0.150 mm 2nd compression ring (2T) 0.040 – 0.150 mm Oil scraper ring 0.025 – 0.150 mm

Note. Note marks (arrow) on the compression rings ("T" and "2T" must point upwards)

Install

  1. 5. Install piston rings • Insert spiral-type expander of oil scraper ring in piston ring groove • Insert oil scraper ring • Insert compression rings – 1st compression ring (T) – 2nd compression ring (2T)

Note. Note marks on the compression rings
