Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Replacement Opel Agila B

Remove

  1. 1. Remove battery from vehicle • Disconnect battery negative lead (2) – Release nut • Disconnect battery positive lead – Release cover (1) – Release nut • Release coolant expansion tank (3) from battery tray – Slide off, then move to one side • Remove bracket (4) from battery tray – Remove bolt
  1. 2. Disconnect 2x harness connector from ECM • Push in 2x lock, then release 2x clip (1)
  1. 3. Release 2x engine harness from battery tray, then move to one side • Release 2x clip using suitable tool
  2. 4. Remove battery tray (1) and engine control module (ECM) from chassis and transmission mounting assembly • Remove 4x bolt

Important. Observe the relevant environmental regulations when disposing of used transmission fluid.

  1. 5. Drain transmission fluid • Position collecting container below • Remove drain plug (1) from transmission
  1. 6. Remove valve body cover (3) from transmission • Remove 18x bolt (1), gasket (2)
  2. 7. Remove oil strainer assembly (4) from valve body assembly • Remove 3x bolt
  3. 8. Remove gasket from oil strainer assembly • Prise off using suitable tool

Important. Components can fall out when the valve body is removed

  1. 9. Release transmission fluid temperature sensor (3) from valve body assembly • Disconnect 5x harness connector from 5x solenoid valve • Release fluid temperature sensor from clip
  2. 10. Remove valve body assembly (1) from transmission • Release transmission fluid temperature sensor from 3x clip • Remove 14x bolt (2) • Disconnect manual valve rod from manual valve lever • Remove cooler check valve and spring • Remove O ring
  3. 11. Lower vehicle
  1. 12. Disconnect engine harness connector from transmission fluid temperature sensor
  2. 13. Remove transmission fluid temperature sensor (1) from transmission • Remove bolt (2) • Withdraw transmission fluid temperature sensor through aperture in transmission

Install

  1. 14. Install new O ring to new transmission fluid temperature sensor • Apply suitable lubricant to O ring, then slide on
  2. 15. Install transmission fluid temperature sensor to transmission • Position transmission fluid temperature sensor through aperture in transmission • Install bolt 5.5 Nm
  3. 16. Connect engine harness connector to transmission fluid temperature sensor
  4. 17. Raise vehicle
  5. 18. Install valve body assembly (1) to transmission • Install new O ring – Apply suitable lubricant to O ring • Connect manual valve rod to manual valve lever • Install cooler check valve and spring • Install 14x bolt (2) 11 Nm • Secure transmission fluid temperature sensor to 3x clip
  6. 19. Secure transmission fluid temperature sensor (3) to valve body assembly • Secure fluid temperature sensor to clip • Connect 5x harness connector to 5x solenoid valve
  1. 20. Clean mating surface of oil strainer assembly (4) (cleaning one surface)
  2. 21. Install new gasket to oil strainer assembly • Push on
  3. 22. Install oil strainer assembly to valve body assembly • Install 3x bolt 10 Nm
  4. 23. Clean mating surfaces of valve body cover and transmission (cleaning both surfaces)
  5. 24. Install valve body cover (3) to transmission • Install new gasket (2) • Install 18x bolt (1) 7 Nm • Remove collecting container
  6. 25. Lower vehicle
  1. 26. Install battery tray (1) and engine control module (ECM) to chassis and transmission mounting assembly • Install 4x bolt
  2. 27. Secure 2x engine harness to battery tray • Secure 2x clip
  1. 28. Install battery to vehicle • Locate battery to battery tray • Install bracket (4) to battery tray – Install bolt • Secure coolant expansion tank (3) to battery tray – Slide on • Connect battery positive lead – Secure nut 11 Nm – Secure cover (1) • Connect battery negative lead (2) – Secure nut 11 Nm
  1. 29. Connect 2x harness connector to ECM • Push on, then secure 2x clip (1)
  1. 30. Install drain plug (1) 17 Nm to transmission • Install new sealing washer
  1. 31. Program all volatile memories – see operation “Program Volatile Memories”

Important. Use specified transmission fluid.

  1. 32. Refill transmission fluid
  2. 33. Check fluid level
