Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION .
Scheme 202
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Check the ELD in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is 72 A or more indicated? YES - Go to step 3 . NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ELD and the PCM.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the ELD 3P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Check the ELD in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is 72 A or more indicated? YES - Go to step 7 . NO - Go to step 11 .
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect PCM connector A (49P).
- Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal A10 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between the PCM (A10) and the ELD, then go to step 13 . NO - Go to step 20 .
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Replace the ELD (see «ELD REPLACEMENT»(ref-333558-S04217013152009072100000) ).
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Reset the PCM with the HDS.
- Do «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-333561-S36442749152009072100000) .
- Start the engine.
- Turn on the headlights.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P1297 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ELD and the PCM, then go to step 1 . NO - Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «PCM UPDATE»(ref-333558-S24141467512009072100000) ), or substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-333557-S35070474232009072100000) ).
- Start the engine.
- Turn on the headlights.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P1297 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ELD and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-333557-S35070474232009072100000) ), then go to step 22 . If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1 . NO - If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-333558-S09775742392009072100000) ). If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
