Removing
Scheme 327
Note. Read the general repair instructions, refer to REPAIR INFORMATION . Guidelines for clean working conditions when working on automatic transmission, refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
Move the selector lever into "P".
Remove the rear noise insulation. Refer to "Underbody Trim" in Description and Operation .
Drain the ATF, refer to ATF, DRAINING OR FILLING AFTER REPAIR .
Remove the tunnel crossmember. Refer to TUNNEL CROSSMEMBER .
Remove the ball socket -1- on the selector lever cable from the selector shaft lever using the 80 - 200.
Scheme 328
Remove the bolts -2- from the cable mounting bracket.
| CAUTION | There is a risk of destroying the transmission control module (Mechatronic) with static discharge. Always "discharge" the static electricity. Do this by touching a grounded object, for example vehicle ground, the vehicle or the hoist. Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands. |
Disconnect the connector on transmission by rotating screw connections counter-clockwise -arrow-.
Place the V.A.G 1782 under the transmission.
Scheme 329
Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the end cover.
Installing
Scheme 330
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following
- For the correct tightening specifications, refer to «COVER, Transmission Control Module -J217-, HYDRAULIC CONTROL MODULE, OVERVIEW»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/automatic-trans/#gears-hydraulic-controls-continuously-variable-transmission-cvt-0aw-sedan__cover-transmission-control-module-j217-hydraulic) .
Note. Replace the seal, sunroof seal, and axial element. Replace the end cover bolts. Do not touch the pins in the connector -A- with fingers.
Slide the new seal -B- with the double lip outward onto the connector -A- for the Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-.
If equipped, place the displacement device -A- on the TCM.
Scheme 331
Clean the sealing surfaces on the transmission housing and on the end cover.
The alignment sleeves in the transmission housing or in the end cover must be tightened again in the same place.
Lay the new end cover seal on the transmission housing.
Note. Be sure alignment sleeves are properly seated.
Make sure that the seals do not get stuck when placing the end cover.
Check the installed position of the seal -A
- The seal must be flush (the seal lips must not be bent).
First tighten the new bolts -arrows- diagonally by hand and then to the tightening specification.
Shift the transmission selector lever all the way toward the rear -arrow- in "P".
Scheme 332
Note. Toward the rear, opposite the drive direction.
Install the selector lever cable bracket, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE OVERVIEW .
Install the transmission support and the tunnel crossmember, refer to TUNNEL CROSSMEMBER .
Fill the ATF, refer to ATF, DRAINING OR FILLING AFTER REPAIR .
