Replace Fan Motor (Without Air Conditioning) Opel Meriva A

Remove

  1. 1. Open bonnet

Important. In vehicles with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic settings every time the battery is disconnected and has to be recalibrated.

  1. 2. Disconnect battery • Detach ground cable
  2. 3. Release upper front panelling (1) • Unscrew 2 bolts • Remove cover of radiator/condenser
  1. 4. Raise vehicle
  2. 5. Release lower front panelling • Remove 3x clips (1) • Disconnect wiring harness plug (2)
  3. 6. Lower vehicle • Half height
  4. 7. Detach front side panelling • Unscrew 4x bolts (arrows)
  1. 8. Remove front panelling

Note. 2nd mechanic is required.

  1. 9. Lower vehicle • Half height
  2. 10. Detach wiring harness plug for fan motor (1) • Unclip from bracket
  1. 11. Remove resonator • Remove bolt (arrow) • Remove resonator from guide
  1. 12. Unclip fan housing • Unclip 4 from bracket
  2. 13. Suspend radiator • On upper radiator bracket
  3. 14. Raise vehicle • Half height
  4. 15. Remove 2 lower radiator brackets • Unscrew 4x bolts (1, 2)
  1. 16. Lower vehicle
  2. 17. Remove fan housing

Note. Take off carefully downwards. 2nd fitter required

  1. 18. Detach fan motor • From fan housing – Unscrew 3 bolts (arrows)

Install

  1. 19. Attach fan motor • On fan housing – Tighten 3x bolts – Tightening torque 6 Nm
  2. 20. Install fan housing • To radiator

Note. 2nd mechanic is required.

  1. 21. Clip in fan housing • In 4x brackets
  2. 22. Raise vehicle
  3. 23. Attach 2x radiator brackets at the bottom • Tighten 4x bolts – Tightening torque 15 Nm
  4. 24. Position front panelling

Note. 2nd mechanic is required.

  1. 25. Fasten upper front panelling • Position radiator cover • Tighten 2 bolts
  2. 26. Raise vehicle
  3. 27. Fasten lower front panelling • Install 3x clips • Connect wiring harness plug.
  4. 28. Connect fan motor wiring harness plug • Attach to bracket
  5. 29. Lower vehicle
  6. 30. Attach side front panelling • Tighten 4x bolts
  7. 31. Lower vehicle
  8. 32. Fit radiator
  9. 33. Install resonator • Tighten bolt
  10. 34. Connect battery
  11. 35. Calibrate steering angle sensor • Turn on ignition

Note. Turn the steering wheel once from the right stop to left stop.

  1. 36. Program volatile memory
  2. 37. Close bonnet
