Remove
Starter see operation "Starter Remove and Install".
Caution
When cleaning all components electric windings may only briefly come into contact with cleaning agents.
Disassemble
Nut from terminal M of solenoid switch and disconnect cable.
Solenoid switch assembly from starter - two bolts.
Disassemble
Torsion spring plunger shim and solenoid switch.
Disassemble
Motor assembly from pinion case – two through bolts (1).
Rear cover – screws (2).
Disassemble
Brush holder from stator assembly – raise brush spring and detach brushes from commutator surface then pull off brush holder.
Armature from stator.
Disassemble
Bearing retainer from pinion case - three screws.
Pinion assembly bearing holder and bearing on 4JG2T engine engaging lever from pinion case.
Disassemble
Pinion assembly - remove clip; use screwdriver.
Disassemble
Pinion stopper (1) return spring (2) pinion shaft (3) clutch (4).
Disassemble
On 4JA1T/4JA1TC engine small bearing from clutch – lever off.
On 4JG2T engine bearing from pinion case.
Disassemble
Large bearing with hollow shaft from clutch – use suitable sleeve.
Disassemble
Hollow shaft from large bearing - use suitable sleeve.
Disassemble
Bearings from armature – use puller.
