Remove
Air cleaner cover intake hose and ducting from air cleaner and turbocharger.
Intake hose with ducting to intake manifold and turbocharger.
Remove
Harness connector from temperature sensor (1) on thermostat housing.
Inspect
Connect circuit tester between glow plug and engine earth switch on starter key but do not start engine.
Glow indicator shall light for:
- 4JA1T engine 2.5 seconds
- 4JG2T engine 1 to 6 seconds.
Circuit tester shall indicate lower supply voltage:
- 4JA1T engine 18 seconds.
- 4JG2T engine 9 to 13 seconds.
Start engine and check that low voltage is indicated:
- 4JA1T engine 18 seconds.
- 4JG2T engine 3 minutes.
If problem is indicated inspect harness connectors glow relay temperature sensor and on 4JG2T the dropping resistor.
Install
Harness connector to temperature sensor.
Install
Air cleaner cover intake hose and ducting to air cleaner and turbocharger.
Intake hose with ducting to intake manifold and turbocharger.
