Replace Thermostat Opel Astra H

Remove

1. 1. Remove engine cover.
2. 2. Raise vehicle by its full height
3. 3. Place collecting basin underneath.
4. 4. Unscrew coolant pump coolant drain bolt (arrow)
5. 5. Lower vehicle by its full height
6. 6. Drain coolant • Unscrew closure cap of coolant expansion tank

Note. Opening the coolant compensation tank accelerates coolant drainage

7. 7. Detach lower coolant hose (1) • From thermostat
8. 8. Remove thermostat • Unscrew 2x bolts (2) • Remove seal ring

9. 9. Clean sealing surfaces.

Install

10. 10. Install thermostat • Replace sealing ring • Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm

Note. Coat seal ring lightly with silicone grease (white)

11. 11. Attach lower coolant hose
12. 12. Raise vehicle by its full height
13. 13. Tighten coolant pump coolant drain bolt 20 Nm • Insert bolt with commercially available Teflon strip
14. 14. Lower vehicle by its full height
15. 15. Attach engine cover
16. 16. Fill and bleed cooling system
