How to Replace the Fan Motor Opel Astra H

Remove

1. 1. Open bonnet
2. 2. Disconnect battery
3. 3. Remove battery • Remove battery bracket – Unscrew bolt • Remove battery and insulation
4. 4. Remove battery support (1) • Unscrew 3x bolts (3) • Unclip coolant hose bracket (4) • Detach wiring harness (2) from battery support – Unclip 3x

5. 5. Raise vehicle by its full height
6. 6. Detach fan wiring harness from fan housing • Unfasten cable tie (2) • Release and unplug wiring harness plug (1)

7. 7. Lower vehicle by its full height
8. 8. Detach engine wiring harness bracket (1) • Unscrew bolt (2) • Set wiring harness aside

9. 9. Remove fan housing • Unclip lower radiator hose elbow from bracket – Detach bracket from fan housing • Unscrew 2x bolt (1 and 2)

10. 10. Remove fan motor out of fan housing • Detach fan motor wiring harness from fan housing – Unscrew bolt (3), unclip 2x clip (2) • Unscrew 3x bolts (1)

Install

11. 11. Install fan motor in fan housing • Tighten 3x bolts • Attach fan motor wiring harness to fan housing – Tighten bolt, clip in 2x clip
12. 12. Install fan housing • Tighten 2x bolts • Install radiator hose bracket • Clip radiator hose into bracket
13. 13. Raise vehicle by its full height
14. 14. Connect and lock fan motor wiring harness plug
15. 15. Lower vehicle by its full height
16. 16. Install battery holder • Tighten 3x bolt 15 Nm • Attach wiring harness to battery support – Fasten 3 cable ties
17. 17. Install battery • Install battery bracket – Tighten bolt 7 Nm
18. 18. Connect battery • Attach ground connection to ground terminal – Tighten nut
19. 19. Close bonnet
20. 20. Program volatile memories
