How to Remove and Install the Starter Opel Astra G

Remove

  1. 1. Open bonnet
  2. 2. Remove battery • Open battery insulation • Ground terminal (5) from battery • Positive terminal (4) from battery • Remove bracket 1) – 1 fastening bolt (2)
  1. 3. Remove battery support. • Remove pre-glow system control unit (3) • Unclip 1 coolant hose – 2 clips (5) • Remove wiring harness – 1 body-bound rivet (1) • 3 fastening bolts (2) and (4)
  1. 4. Release starter on gearbox side • 1 tightening bolt (1)
  1. 5. Raise vehicle
  2. 6. Remove lower engine compartment cover • 2 fastening bolts (2) • 2 body-bound rivets (1) and (3) • 10 tightening bolts (4), (5), (6) and (7)
  1. 7. Detach oil filter housing return house (1) • From cylinder block • 1 clip
  1. 8. Remove starter • Detach cable ties – 1 cable tie (5) – 2 fastening nuts (2) and (3) – 1 tightening bolt (1) • 1 fastening bolt (4)

Install

  1. 9. Install starter • 1 fastening bolt – Tightening torque 38.2 Nm • Attach cable ties – 2 fastening nuts – 1 fastening bolt – 1 cable tie
  2. 10. Attach oil filter housing return hose • On cylinder block • 1 clip

Important. When installing make sure that the brake hose (8) is above the engine compartment cover

  1. 11. Install lower engine compartment cover • 2 fastening bolts (2) • 2 body-bound rivets (1) and (3) • 10 tightening bolts (4), (5), (6) and (7) – Tightening torque 5 Nm
  1. 12. Lower vehicle
  2. 13. Secure starter • 1 fastening bolt – Tightening torque 60 Nm
  3. 14. Install battery holder • 3 fastening bolts – Tightening torque 15 Nm • Clip in coolant hose – 2 clips • Attach wiring harness – 1 body-bound rivet • Attach pre-glow system control device
  4. 15. Install battery • Bracket – 1 fastening bolt • Ground terminal to battery • Positive terminal to battery • Close battery insulation
  5. 16. Programme transient memory
  6. 17. Close bonnet
