Remove
- 1. Open bonnet
- 2. Disconnect battery
- 3. Remove air cleaner housing (5) and air intake manifold (3) • 1 mass air flow meter wiring harness plug (4) • Unclip tank ventilation hose (1) • 1 fastening bolt (2) • 1 clip
- 4. Remove PDA system vacuum dashpot (2) • Remove wiring harness plug (3) • Remove from intake manifold flange – Unclip control rod – 2 bolts (1) – Lift up and off
- 5. Detach ribbed V-belt (1) • Mark direction of rotation • Apply tension to the ribbed V-belt tensioner (2) in the direction of the arrow and fix using KM-6130 (3) – Remove ribbed-V-belt
- 6. Raise vehicle
- 7. Disconnect alternator from power supply • Disconnect alternator from power supply – Nuts (1) and (2)
- 8. Remove alternator tightening bolt, down and off • 1 bolt (4)
- 9. Lower vehicle
- 10. Remove alternator tightening bolt, up and off • Remove 1 bolt (3)
- 11. Lift alternator up and off
- 12. Alternator, Check • see operation "Testing Alternator" for X 16 XEL engine
- 13. Dismantle and assemble alternator • see operation "Bosch Compact Alternators, Dismantle and Assemble" for X 16 XEL engines
Install
- 14. Insert alternator from above
- 15. Insert alternator tightening bolt from above • 1 bolt – Do not tighten
- 16. Raise vehicle
- 17. Remove alternator tightening bolt, down and out • 1 bolt – Tightening torque 35 Nm
- 18. Connect alternator to power supply • 2 nuts
- 19. Lower vehicle
- 20. Insert alternator tightening bolt from above • 1 bolt – Tightening torque 35 Nm
- 21. Attach PDA system vacuum dashpot • Clip on control rod • Attach to intake manifold flange – 2 bolts – Tightening torque 6Nm
- 22. Attach ribbed V-belt (1) • Lay on ribbed V-belt, taking note of the direction of rotation • Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner (2) via bush in direction of arrow and remove KM-6130 from hole (3)
- 23. Install air cleaner housing and air intake manifold • Place 1 mass air flow meter wiring harness plug • Clip in tank ventilation hose • 1 fastening bolt • 1 clip – Tightening torque 3.5Nm
- 24. Connect battery
- 25. Programme transient memory
- 26. Close bonnet
