Key Interlock System Inspection

1. Switch the ignition to ON.
2. Perform the following procedures to inspect the key interlock system. If there is any malfunction, inspect the key interlock solenoid and NOT P position switch. (See KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID INSPECTION .)(See NOT P POSITION SWITCH INSPECTION .) Verify that the ignition cannot be switched to off when the selector lever is not in the P position. Verify that the ignition can be switched to off when the selector lever is in the P position.

1. Perform the following procedures. Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].) Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].) Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Disconnect the key interlock solenoid connector. (Scheme 1441): Identifying Key Interlock Solenoid Connector
2. Measure the resistance between the key interlock solenoid terminals A and B. (Scheme 1442): Identifying Key Interlock Solenoid Terminals If there is any malfunction, replace the steering lock. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITHOUT ADVANCED KEYLESS ENTRY AND PUSH BUTTON START SYSTEM].) Key interlock solenoid specification Approx.36 ohms

1. Perform the following procedures. Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].) Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].) Remove the console. (See CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Disconnect the selector lever component connector. (Scheme 1443): Identifying Selector Lever Component Connector
2. Inspect the continuity between the selector lever component terminals G and K. (Scheme 1444): Identifying Selector Lever Component Terminals If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever component. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
