DTC P0340 - CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR MALFUNCTION Hyundai Sonata III рестайлинг

  1. Install scan tool. Start engine and check if DTC P0340 is present. If DTC is present, go to next step. If DTC is not present, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in «TESTS W/O CODES»(ref-16659) article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CMP sensor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, check voltage at sensor harness connector terminal No. 1 and ground. See appropriate wiring diagram in «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-16646) article. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check circuit between sensor harness connector terminal No. 1 and SFI relay.
  3. Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, check continuity between CMP sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 and ground. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, check circuit between sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 and ground. Repair as necessary.
  4. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, check voltage between sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If voltage is 4.8-5.2 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.8-5.2 volts, repair circuit between sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 and ECM.
  5. Check CMP sensor. See «SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-16633) article. Clean or replace sensor. If sensor is okay, start engine. Check ignition timing. See IGNITION TIMING in «ADJUSTMENTS»(ref-16632) article. If timing is not within specification, check if dowel pin on CMP sensor is locked. Lock dowel pin or replace CMP sensor. If timing is within specification, go to next step.
  6. Clear DTC. See CLEARING CODES under Self Diagnostic System section. Retest system. If DTC resets, replace ECM.
