Scheme 100
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Do the ETCS TEST in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS. Is the RELAY circuit OK? YES - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ETCS control module relay, the throttle actuator control module, and the ECM. NO - Go to step 4 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Remove the ETCS control module relay (A).
- Disconnect ECM connector D (17P).
- Check for continuity between ECM connector terminal D15 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between the ETCS control module relay and the ECM (D15), then go to step 10 . NO - Go to step 9 .
- Test the ETCS control module relay (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(ref-221386-S33182512862006022400000) ). Is the relay OK? YES - Go to step 17 . NO - Replace the ETCS control module relay, then go to step 10.
- Reconnect ECM connector D (17P).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Reset the ECM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM idle learn procedure (see «ECM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-221342-S09897997502006022400000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and wait 10 seconds.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P2552 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ETCS control module relay, the throttle actuator control module, and the ECM, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - Troubleshooting is complete.
- Update the ECM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM (see «UPDATING THE ECM»(ref-221338-S06618208692006022400000) ).
NO - If the ECM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM was substituted, replace the original ECM (see «ECM REPLACEMENT»(ref-351945-S35124653042009122900000) ).
