SYMPTOM CHART
PINPOINT TEST A: BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR
- A1 READ AND RECORD ALL DTCS Read and record all DTCs . Is DTC B1319:11 and/or B1379:15 set? Yes : For DTC B1319:11 GO to A2 For DTC B1379:15 GO to A3 No : The issue may not be the Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA) electrical system, go to «SYMPTOM CHARTS»(ref-566955-S17135646482013071700000) .
- A2 CHECK THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR POWER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect Floor Shifter C3245 . Disconnect BCM C2280C . Measure the resistance between: Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C3245-3 Ground Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new selector lever assembly. REFER to: «SELECTOR LEVER ASSEMBLY»(ref-566955-S16729771482013071700000) . No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTC.
- A3 CHECK THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR POWER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Disconnect Floor Shifter C3245 . Disconnect BCM C2280C . Measure the resistance between: Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C3245-3 C2280C-41 Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to A4 No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTC.
- A4 CHECK THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between: Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C3245-4 Ground Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to A5 No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTC .
- A5 CHECK BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR POWER CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE Ignition ON. Measure for voltage between: Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C3245-3 Ground Is any voltage present? Yes : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTC . No : INSTALL a new selector lever assembly. REFER to: «SELECTOR LEVER ASSEMBLY»(ref-566955-S16729771482013071700000) .

- Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise one detent.
- Set the selector lever to the (D) position.
- Verify that the vehicle only starts in PARK and NEUTRAL and the reversal lamps illuminate in REVERSE.

- NOTE: If it is necessary to use the override procedure to move the selector lever out of the PARK position, it is possible that an electrical failure has occurred. Using the scan tool check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). This vehicle is equipped with a brake shift interlock feature that prevents the selector lever from being moved out of PARK when the ignition is in the ON position until the brake pedal is applied. If the selector lever cannot be moved out of the PARK position when the ignition is in the ON position and the brake pedal is applied: Fully apply the parking brake lever. Set ignition switch to the 0 position (Ignition off).
- NOTE: Move the brake shift interlock lever forward and hold the brake shift interlock lever while pulling the gearshift lever out of the PARK position and into the NEUTRAL position. Screwdriver.
- Apply the brake pedal and start the vehicle.
- Fully release the parking brake.
