Match the module row with the condition that applies, after module replacement follow the chart down and program the modules in the chart order.

REMOVAL

Note. For vehicles equipped with Hill Start Assist (HSA), the ICU must be serviced as an assembly. The HCU and ABM are not serviceable separately.

Due to packaging and limited space it is necessary to remove and disassemble the Integrated Control Unit (ICU) to service the Antilock Brake Module (ABM) on this vehicle. Refer to INTEGRATED CONTROL UNIT (ICU), REMOVAL .

INSTALLATION

Due to packaging and limited space it is necessary to install the Antilock Brake Module (ABM) on the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), then install the Integrated Control Unit (ICU) on the vehicle as an assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .

Scheme 8: DESCRIPTION

This vehicle is equipped with two electronic front door control modules (1) (also known as a Driver Door Module/DDM, a Passenger Door Module/PDM or Front Door Multiplex/MUX Modules), one each on both the driver and passenger front doors. Each door control module is concealed behind the front door trim panel where it is secured through four integral mounting tabs (2) to the door hardware module carrier by four screws.

Each door control module contains a microprocessor and is connected to the various switches on that door. Both the driver and passenger side module also receive various hard wired switch inputs and provide numerous hard wired outputs to various devices located on their respective doors. In addition, both front door control modules communicate with each other and with other electronic modules in the vehicle over the Controller Area Network (CAN) B data bus system.

Concealed and protected within the molded plastic door control module housing is the printed circuit board and the other electronic circuitry of the module. The front door control modules are connected to the vehicle electrical system through up to three connector receptacles that are integral to the module housing.

A door control module cannot be adjusted or repaired and, if damaged or ineffective, it must be replaced. The door control module software is flash programmable.

  1. Position the door control module to the front door hardware module carrier.
  2. Install and tighten the four screws that secure the door control module to the front door hardware module carrier. Tighten the screws securely.
  3. If the vehicle is so equipped, reconnect the black 12-way electrical connector (3), then the brown 20-way electrical connector (2) followed by the black 10-way electrical connector (1) to the door control module connector receptacles.
  4. Reinstall the trim panel to the inside of the front door. Refer to «PANEL, DOOR TRIM, INSTALLATION»(ref-485483-S00842260702012071300000) .
  5. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
  6. The Clear/Relearn procedure should be performed following service of a door control module so that the module can learn the correct hard stops of the power window regulator. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485499-S09886255072012071300000) .
  1. Remove the left front trim panel.
  2. Remove the electrical connector.
  3. Remove the mounting nuts.
  4. Remove the ECC module.
  1. Install ECC module into mounting studs.
  2. Install mounting nuts and tighten to 8N.m (71 in. lbs.) torque.
  3. Install the electrical connector.
  4. Install the left front trim panel.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the HVAC control panel. Refer to «CONTROL, A/C AND HEATER, REMOVAL»(ref-485480-S08818067002012071300000) .
  3. Remove the trim piece (3) in front of the Hands Free Module (HFM) to access the connectors (1, 2).
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the HFM and the USB connector (1) if equipped.
  5. Remove the hands free module mounting fasteners.
  6. Remove the HFM from the vehicle.
  1. Connect the electrical connectors (2) to the HFM and the USB connector (1) if equipped.
  2. Install the hands free module mounting fasteners.
  3. Install the trim piece (3) in front of the Hands Free Module (HFM).
  4. Install the HVAC control panel. Refer to «CONTROL, A/C AND HEATER, INSTALLATION»(ref-485480-S13934159452012071300000) .
  5. Connect the battery negative cable.

Scheme 11: DESCRIPTION

The heated seat module (2) is located under the driver front seat. It has a single electrical connector (1) and a push pin style retainer that secures it to the seat pan (4). The module can be accessed from under the Driver seat with the seat in the full back and up position.

The heated seat module is a microprocessor designed to use the Local Interface Network (LIN) data bus messages from the instrument cluster, sometimes referred to as the Cab Compartment Node (CCN). The CCN receives inputs from the heated seat switches and in turn signals the heated seat module to operate the heated seat elements for both front seats.

CAUTIONThe Heated Seat Module mounting tab can be damaged during module removal and installation. Use care to properly align tab to prevent binding that could result in tab breakage.
  1. Install the heated seat module (3) into the vehicle.
  2. Position the retaining tab (2) with the mounting hole in the seat pan (1). Firmly apply even pressure to the module (3) until the mounting tab is fully seated.
  3. Connect the wire harness connector (4) to the heated seat module (3).
  4. Connect the battery negative cable.
  5. Check for proper heated seat system operation.

Scheme 12: REMOVAL
  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Remove the left lower quarter trim panel. Refer to «PANEL, QUARTER TRIM, REMOVAL»(ref-485483-S31298959862012071300000) .
  3. Disconnect the Power Top Control Module (PTCM) electrical connectors (3).
  4. Remove the two PTCM retaining nuts (2).
  5. Remove the PTCM (4) from the vehicle.
CAUTIONReplacement Power Top Control Module (PTCM) must be configured for the proper vehicle application. Failure to do so will result in improper top operation and possible component damage.
  1. Position the Power Top Control Module (PTCM) (4) onto the mounting studs of the lower left quarter panel (1).
  2. Install the two PTCM retaining nuts (2).
  3. Connect the PTCM electrical connectors (3).
  4. Install the left lower quarter trim panel. Refer to «PANEL, QUARTER TRIM, INSTALLATION»(ref-485483-S14182397842012071300000) .
  5. Connect the battery negative cable.
  6. Using an appropriate diagnostic scan tool, perform PTCM initial configuration for convertible soft top or retractable hard top application.
  1. Install the PCM (2) to the battery tray with four nuts (1) and ground strap (4). Tighten nuts (1) to 5 N.m (44 in. lbs.).
  2. Position the battery tray and PCM in the vehicle. Route the wire harness and close the wire harness retainers (3).
  3. Install the battery tray (3) with one nut (5) and two bolts (1). Tighten all three fasteners to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  4. Engage the engine wire harness connector (2) to the battery tray (3).
  5. Engage two engine wire harness retainers (4) to the battery tray (3).
  6. Engage two starter wire harness retainers (6) to the battery tray (3).
  7. Connect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connectors (1 and 2).
  8. Install the battery. Refer to «INSTALLATION»(ref-485500-S39897390052012071300000) . NOTE: If the original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and original vehicle mileage is not programed into the PCM, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set.
  9. If installing a new PCM, use a diagnostic scan tool to reprogram the new PCM with the vehicles original VIN and mileage.
  10. Install the engine cover (1).

Scheme 13: DESCRIPTION

This vehicle is equipped with a Steering Control Module (SCM) that is internal to the left multi-function switch housing (2). The left (lighting) multi-function switch is located on the left side of the steering column, just below the steering wheel. This switch is the primary control for the interior and exterior lighting systems. The only visible components of the switch are the control stalk (1), control knob and control sleeve that extend through the steering column shrouds on the left side of the column. The remainder of the switch including its mounting provisions and electrical connections are concealed beneath the shrouds.

The switch housing and controls are constructed of molded black plastic. A single screw (7) through a mounting tab integral to the back of the switch housing, and a slide tab integral to the bottom of the switch housing secure the switch to the mounting bracket integral to the clockspring (3). A connector receptacle containing seven terminal pins is integral to the inboard end of the switch housing and connects the SCM through a jumper wire harness (5) directly to the right (wiper) multi-function switch (6). A second connector receptacle containing four terminal pins is integral to the back of the switch housing and connects the SCM to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated takeout and connector of the instrument panel wire harness.

The SCM cannot be adjusted or repaired. If ineffective or damaged the entire left multi-function switch must be replaced. Refer to SWITCH, MULTIFUNCTION, LEFT, REMOVAL . The clockspring (with the multi-function switch mounting bracket), the left multi-function switch (with the SCM), the right multi-function switch and the jumper wire harness are each available for separate service replacement.

  1. Position the TIPM into the engine compartment.
  2. Connect the harness connectors to the bottom of the TIPM.
  3. Install the B+ cable (2) to the TIPM stud (3).
  4. Install the TIPM B+ cable retainer (1). Tighten the nut to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.).
  5. Flip the TIPM to the upright position.
  6. Position the TIPM onto the mounting bracket and push down until the mounting clips are fully seated.
  7. Fully seat the airbag fuse holder (two fuses in one yellow carrier) and the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
  9. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the "RUN" position and wait twelve seconds. The TIPM will collect the necessary vehicle configuration and VIN data from the CCN and PCM at this time. After twelve seconds turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position and verify proper vehicle systems operation.
