DIAGNOSTIC TEST

  1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, clear all TIPM DTCs. Turn the Headlamps on. With the scan tool, read the DTCs. Does the scan tool read: B162B-LEFT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW? Yes Go To 2. No The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  2. (L43) LEFT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C4 harness connector. Disconnect the Left Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C1 (Dodge) harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the (L43) Left Low Beam Control circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Repair the (L43) Left Low Beam Control circuit for a short to ground condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), REMOVAL»(ref-485482-S02522181472012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  2. LEFT LOW BEAM BULB Turn the ignition off. Inspect the Left Bulb Assembly. Is the inoperative bulb OK? Yes Go To 3. No Replace the inoperative bulb in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «UNIT, FRONT LAMP, REMOVAL»(ref-485481-S25526260142012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  3. (L43) LEFT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C4 harness connector. Disconnect the Left Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C1 (Dodge) harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (L43) Left Low Beam Control circuit. Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms? Yes Repair the (L43) Left Low Beam Control circuit for an open condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 4.
  4. (L43) LEFT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE Turn the ignition on. Measure for voltage on the (L43) Left Low Beam Control circuit. Is the voltage above 10.0 volts? Yes Repair the (L43) Left Low Beam Control circuit for a short to voltage condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), REMOVAL»(ref-485482-S02522181472012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

  2. (L44) RIGHT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C5 harness connector. Disconnect the Right Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C1 (Dodge) harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the (L44) Right Low Beam Control circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Repair the (L44) Right Low Beam Control circuit for a short to ground condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), REMOVAL»(ref-485482-S02522181472012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  2. RIGHT LOW BEAM BULB Turn the ignition off. Inspect the Right Bulb Assembly. Is the inoperative bulb OK? Yes Go To 3. No Replace the inoperative bulb in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «UNIT, FRONT LAMP, REMOVAL»(ref-485481-S25526260142012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  3. (L44) RIGHT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C5 harness connector. Disconnect the Right Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C1 (Dodge) harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (L44) Right Low Beam Control circuit. Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms? Yes Repair the (L44) Right Low Beam Control circuit for an open condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 4.
  4. (L44) RIGHT LOW BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE Turn the ignition on. Measure for voltage on the (L44) Right Low Beam Control circuit. Is the voltage above 10.0 volts? Yes Repair the (L44) Right Low Beam Control circuit for a short to voltage condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.   2. (L33) LEFT HIGHBEAM OUTPUT CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C5 harness connector. Disconnect the Left Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C2 (Dodge) harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the (L33) Left Highbeam Output circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Repair the (L33) Left Highbeam Output circuit for a short to ground condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), REMOVAL»(ref-485482-S02522181472012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

Does the scan tool read: B1634-LEFT HI BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH? Yes Go To 2. No The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  2. (L33) LEFT HIGH BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C5 harness connector. Disconnect the Left Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C2 (Dodge) harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit. Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms? Yes Repair the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit for an open condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 3.
  3. (L33) LEFT HIGH BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE Turn the ignition on. Measure for voltage on the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit. Is the voltage above 10.0 volts? Yes Repair the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit for a short to voltage condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 4.
  4. CHECK THE TIPM FOR CORRECT OPERATION Turn the ignition off. Reconnect the TIPM C5 harness connector. Connect a 12-volt test light between the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit and ground in the Left Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C2 (Dodge) harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Turn the High Beam Headlamps on. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes For Dodge vehicles, replace the Inoperative bulb in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «UNIT, FRONT LAMP, REMOVAL»(ref-485481-S25526260142012071300000). For Chrysler vehicles, replace the Front Lamp Unit in accordance with the Service Information.. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), REMOVAL»(ref-485482-S02522181472012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  2. (L34) RIGHT HIGHBEAM OUTPUT CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C4 harness connector. Disconnect the Right Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C2 (Dodge) harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the (L34) Right Highbeam Output circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Repair the (L34) Right Highbeam Output circuit for a short to ground condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), REMOVAL»(ref-485482-S02522181472012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

  2. (L34) RIGHT HIGH BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C4 harness connector. Disconnect the Right Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C2 (Dodge) harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (L34) Right High Beam Control circuit. Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms? Yes Repair the (L34) Right High Beam Control circuit for an open condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 3.
  3. (L34) RIGHT HIGH BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE Turn the ignition on. Measure for voltage on the (L34) Right High Beam Control circuit. Is the voltage above 10.0 volts? Yes Repair the (L34) Right High Beam Control circuit for a short to voltage condition. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 4.
  4. CHECK THE TIPM FOR CORRECT OPERATION Turn the ignition off. Reconnect the TIPM C4 harness connector. Connect a 12-volt test light between the (L34) Right High Beam Control circuit and ground in the Right Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C2 (Dodge) harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Turn the High Beam Headlamps on. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes For Dodge vehicles, replace the Inoperative bulb in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «UNIT, FRONT LAMP, REMOVAL»(ref-485481-S25526260142012071300000). For Chrysler vehicles, replace the Front Lamp Unit in accordance with the Service Information.. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), REMOVAL»(ref-485482-S02522181472012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

(W3) FRONT WIPER LOW SPEED CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT HIGH RESISTANCE With a jumper wire, connect one end to the (W3) Wiper Low Speed Motor Control Output circuit at the Wiper connector and the other to a clean chassis ground. Using a 12-volt test light to 12-volts, check the (W3) Wiper Low Speed Control Output circuit in the TIPM C11 harness connector. NOTE: The test light should be illuminated and bright. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 4. No Repair the excessive resistance in the (W3) Front Wiper Low Speed Control Output circuit. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  4. CHECKING WIPER OPERATION Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Wiper Motor harness connector. Using a fused jumper wire, momentarily jumper 12-volts to the Wiper Motor. Did the Wiper Motor operate properly? Yes Go To 6 . No Go To 5 .

  2. VISUAL AND PHYSICAL CONNECTOR AND TERMINAL INSPECTION Turn the ignition off. Inspect the following connector terminal condition. Check for signs of corrosion build up or damage that would compromise the terminal to controller pin connector. NOTE: Make sure that all in-line connectors are inspected for corrosion and/or damage. Disconnect the Wiper connector. Disconnect the TIPM C11 harness connector. Visually inspect the wiring harness. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires hidden in the wire insulation. Were any of the above conditions found? Yes Repair or replace as necessary. No Go To 3 .
  3. (W4) FRONT WIPER HIGH SPEED CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT HIGH RESISTANCE With a jumper wire, connect one end to the (W4) Wiper High Speed Motor Control Output circuit at the Wiper connector and the other to a clean chassis ground. Using a 12-volt test light to 12-volts, check the (W4) Wiper High Speed Control Output circuit in the TIPM C11 harness connector. NOTE: The test light should be illuminated and bright. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 4. No Repair the excessive resistance in the (W4) Front Wiper High Speed Control Output circuit.   4. CHECKING WIPER OPERATION Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Wiper Motor harness connector. Using a fused jumper wire, momentarily jumper 12-volts to the Wiper Motor. Did the Wiper Motor operate properly? Yes Go To 6 . No Go To 5 .

Measure the voltage of the (B20) Brake Fluid Level signal circuit in the Brake Fluid Level Switch harness connector to ground. Is the voltage above 5.2 volts? Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.   2. CHECK THE (T16) TRANSMISSION CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C10 harness connector. Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector. Disconnect the Transmission Solenoid/Pressure Switch Assembly harness connector. Disconnect the Line Pressure Sensor/Variable Force Solenoid Assembly harness connector (4-Speed Automatic Transmission). Measure the resistance of the (T16) Transmission Control Output between the TIPM C10 harness connector and PCM C1 harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?   3. CHECK THE (T16) TRANSMISSION CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the TIPM C10 harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the (T16) Transmission Control Output circuit. Is the resistance above 10k Ohms? Yes Replace the TIPM in accordance with the Service Information. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, record and erase TIPM DTCs. Cycle the ignition from on to off three times. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read active TIPM DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 2 . No The conditions that caused this code to set are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
  2. CHECK THE (D55) CAN B BUS (+) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE (D54) CAN B BUS (-) CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Totally Integrated Power Module C3 harness connector. Measure the resistance between the (D55) CAN B Bus (+) circuit and (D54) CAN B Bus (-) circuit. Is resistance below 1000.0 Ohms? Yes Go To 3. No Inspect the wiring and connectors for damage or shorted circuits. If OK, replace the Totally Integrated Power Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  3. (D55) CAN B BUS (+) CIRCUIT SHORTED TO THE (D54) CAN B BUS (-) CIRCUIT Measure the resistance between the (D55) CAN B Bus (+) circuit and (D54) CAN B Bus (-) circuit. While monitoring the ohmmeter, disconnect each CAN B Bus module one at a time. NOTE: This is to determine if the circuits are shorted together internally within a module or if the circuits are shorted together in the harness. NOTE: Disconnecting an in-line connector can eliminate a module or group of modules from the list of possible causes for this fault. Refer to the wiring diagrams to assist in diagnosis. Is resistance below 1000.0 Ohms with all the CAN B Bus modules disconnected? Yes Repair the (D55) CAN B Bus (+) circuit for a short to the (D54) CAN B Bus (-) circuit. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace the module, in accordance with the Service Information, that when disconnected eliminated the shorted together circuits. Perform the appropriate verification test for the module being replaced. If there is no verification test for the associated module perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000).

Yes Refer to «DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX»(ref-485529-S10681032982012071300000) and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. No Go To 3.
  3. VERIFY THE PCM IS ACTIVE ON THE BUS Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, select ECU View. Verify that the PCM is active on the bus. Is the PCM active on the bus? Yes Go To 4. No Refer to «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-485491-S29601655582012071300000) and perform the No Response from PCM diagnostic procedure.
  4. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL COMMUNICATION RELATED DTCS With the scan tool, read all active DTCs from all modules. Is there more than one module with active DTCs "Logged Against" the PCM? Yes Replace/update the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485547-S35074881862012071300000) for 2.4L or «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485569-S08442602642012071300000) for 3.6L and perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace/update the module that set this DTC in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the appropriate verification test for the module being replaced. If there is no verification test for the associated module, refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

  4. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL COMMUNICATION RELATED DTCS With the scan tool, read all active DTCs from all modules. Is there more than one module with active DTCs "Logged Against" the ABS? No Replace/update the module that set this DTC in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the appropriate verification test for the module being replaced.   4. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL COMMUNICATION RELATED DTCS With the scan tool, read all active DTCs from all modules. Is there more than one module with active DTCs "Logged Against" the SAS? Yes Replace/update the Steering Angle Sensor (internal to the clockspring) in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the appropriate verification test for the module being replaced. Yes Replace/update the Hands Free Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace/update the module that set this DTC in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the appropriate verification test for the module being replaced. If there is no verification test for the associated module, refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  1. VERIFY THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IS ACTIVE NOTE: Make sure the IOD fuse is installed and battery voltage is between 10 and 16 volts before proceeding. With the scan tool, read active DTCs. Is this DTC active? Yes Go To 2. No Refer to «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-485491-S29601655582012071300000) and perform the Stored Lost Communication DTCs diagnostic procedure.
  2. CHECK FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ACTIVE DTCS With the scan tool, read active DTCs from all modules. NOTE: Check for TIPM configuration, CAN B or C hardware electrical, VIN Missing/Mismatch, battery or ignition related DTCs. Does the scan tool display any active DTCs to the conditions listed above? Yes Refer to «DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX»(ref-485529-S10681032982012071300000) and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. No Go To 3.
  3. VERIFY THAT THE DDM IS ACTIVE ON THE BUS Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, select ECU View. Verify that the DDM is active on the bus. Is the DDM active on the bus? Yes Go To 4. No Refer to «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-485491-S29601655582012071300000) and perform the No Response from DDM diagnostic procedure.
  4. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL COMMUNICATION RELATED DTCS With the scan tool, read active DTCs from all modules. Is there more than one module with active DTCs "Logged Against" the DDM? Yes Replace/update the Driver Door Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace/update the module that set this DTC in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the appropriate verification test for the module being replaced. If there is no verification test for the associated module, refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

  4. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL COMMUNICATION RELATED DTCS With the scan tool, read active DTCs from all modules. Is there more than one module with active DTCs "Logged Against" the PDM? Yes Replace/update the Passenger Door Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace/update the module that set this DTC in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the appropriate verification test for the module being replaced. If there is no verification test for the associated module, refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

  3. VERIFY THAT THE PTCM IS ACTIVE ON THE BUS Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, select ECU View. Verify that the PTCM is active on the bus. Is the PTCM active on the bus? Yes Go To 4. No Refer to «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-485491-S29601655582012071300000) and perform the No Response from PTCM diagnostic procedure.
  4. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL COMMUNICATION RELATED DTCS With the scan tool, read DTCs. Is there more than one module with active DTCs "Logged Against" the Power Top Control Module? Yes Replace/update the Power Top Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Replace/update the module that set this DTC in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the appropriate verification test for the module being replaced. If there is no verification test for the associated module, refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION NOTE: Check for any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) related to the condition. If a TSB applies, perform the procedure outlined in the TSB before continuing. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, record and erase TIPM DTCs. Cycle the ignition from on to off three times. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read active TIPM DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 2 . No The conditions that caused this code to set are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
  2. ANTILOCK BRAKE MODULE - INTERNAL SHORT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Antilock Brake Module harness connector. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, record and erase TIPM DTCs. Cycle the ignition from on to off three times. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read active TIPM DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 3. No Inspect the wiring and connectors for damage or shorted circuits. If OK, replace the Antilock Brake Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, REMOVAL»(ref-485482-S28697645202012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485487-S19412834172012071300000) and perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
  3. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE - INTERNAL SHORT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module C1 harness connector. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, record and erase TIPM DTCs. Cycle the ignition from on to off three times. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read active TIPM DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 4. No Inspect the wiring and connectors for damage or shorted circuits. If OK, replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL, REMOVAL»(ref-485482-S06048014282012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485547-S35074881862012071300000) for 2.4L or «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485569-S08442602642012071300000) for 3.6L and perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST.
  4. STEERING ANGLE SENSOR - INTERNAL SHORT Turn the ignition off. NOTE: If vehicle is not equipped with this sensor, answer yes to the question. Disconnect the Clockspring C3 harness connector. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, record and erase TIPM DTCs. Cycle the ignition from on to off three times. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read active TIPM DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 5. No Inspect the wiring and connectors for damage or shorted circuits. If OK, replace and program the Steering Angle Sensor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «CLOCKSPRING, REMOVAL»(ref-485488-S39236840502012071300000). Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  5. (D65) CAN C BUS (+) CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Totally Integrated Power Module C2 and C3 harness connectors. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage between the (D65) CAN C Bus (+) circuit and ground on both connectors. Is there any voltage present? Yes Repair the (D65) CAN C Bus (+) circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 6.
  6. (D64) CAN C BUS (-) CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE Measure the voltage between the (D64) CAN C Bus (-) circuit and ground. Is there any voltage present? Yes Repair the (D64) CAN C Bus (-) circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 7.
  7. (D65) CAN C BUS (+) CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Turn the ignition off. Measure the resistance between ground and the (D65) CAN C Bus (+) circuit. Is any resistance present? Yes Repair the (D65) CAN C Bus (+) circuit for a short to ground. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 8.
  8. (D64) CAN C BUS (-) CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Measure the resistance between ground and the (D64) CAN C Bus (-) circuit. Is any resistance present? Yes Repair the (D64) CAN C Bus (-) circuit for a short to ground. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 9.
  9. (D65) CAN C BUS (+) CIRCUIT SHORTED TO THE (D64) CAN C BUS (-) CIRCUIT Measure the resistance between the (D65) CAN C Bus (+) circuit and the (D64) CAN C Bus (-) circuit. Is any resistance present? Yes Repair the (D65) CAN C Bus (+) circuit for a short to the (D64) CAN C Bus (-) circuit. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Inspect the wiring and connectors for damage or shorted circuits. If OK, replace and program the module that set this DTC in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the appropriate verification test for the module being replaced. If there is no verification test for the associated module, refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  1. CHECK THE VEHICLE REPAIR HISTORY Check the vehicle repair history for any recent module replacements or additions. Have any modules been recently replaced or added? Yes Verify the appropriate installation and module initialization procedures were completed. Make sure any changes related to the sales codes associated with the vehicle or the vehicle configuration were correctly updated. Repair as necessary. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Go To 2.
  2. RESTORE THE VEHICLE CONFIGURATION Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, view the modules on the communication network. Read and record the listed modules or run a Vehicle Scan Report. With the scan tool, select TIPM, miscellaneous functions then Restore Vehicle Configuration. With the scan tool, erase DTCs. Cycle the ignition from on to off three times and read the active TIPM DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Retest system and attempt to reprogram the TIPM. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Repair is complete. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485529-S24369246162012071300000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  1. PERFORM BODY VERIFICATION TEST NOTE: If the WCM or PCM/ECM was replaced, refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-485482-S34467717552012071300000) for proper programming procedures. Disconnect all jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components and connectors. Make sure that all accessories are turned off. Make sure that the battery is fully charged. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs from all modules. If an electronic control module was replaced, select the applicable module from the scan tool menu and press "Misc. Functions". If the module has programmable features, program as necessary. (Export only) If the Intrusion Transceiver Module (ITM) and/or Siren was replaced, select ITM from the scan tool ECU View menu then "Misc. Functions" and perform the applicable replacement procedure. If the Driver Door Module was disconnected for any reason, ensure that the C2 connector was connected prior to the C1 connector being connected. If this was not done, in that sequence, the scan tool will report multiple Passenger Door Modules. If the battery was disconnected for any reason, you must perform the Battery Reconnection procedure in the 8F-Engine Systems section of the Service Information. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, and then turn the ignition on. Operate all functions of the system that caused the original concern. With the scan tool, select ECU View and check for DTC's in the modules. Are DTCs present in any of the modules or is the original condition still present? Yes The repair is not complete. Refer to «DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX»(ref-485529-S10681032982012071300000) and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure for the DTC or symptom that is still present. No The repair is complete.
