Disconnect lower transaxle oil cooler line from radiator. Remove surge tank inlet pipe from engine. Remove accelerator control cable from throttle body. Disconnect cruise control cable from throttle body, and set aside.
  4. Disconnect wiring and vacuum connections as needed to allow removal. Remove both hoses from power steering cooler. Raise and support vehicle. Remove both wheels. Disconnect real time dampening sensor links from lower control arm. Remove wheel speed sensor leads from retaining brackets at struts and frame rails.
  5. Remove bolt attaching brake hose brackets to front struts. Remove nut attaching brake pipe brackets to frame rails. Remove strut to knuckle fasteners. Disconnect 2 rear brake pipes at rear of engine frame. Remove air deflector. Remove engine oil cooler quick connect fittings from engine oil filter adapter, with the oil lines still attached, and position aside. Remove dust cover from quick connect joint.

NOTE: Wheels of vehicle must be straight ahead and steering column in LOCK position before disconnecting steering column or intermediate shaft from steering gear. Failure to do so will cause coil assembly in steering column to become uncentered, causing damage to coil assembly.
  7. Remove intermediate shaft pinch bolt. Disconnect intermediate shaft from steering gear. Disconnect post HO2S at sensor pigtail. Remove exhaust front pipe. Remove brace between engine oil pan and transaxle case. Remove torque converter cover. Mark for reference and remove torque converter-to-flywheel bolts.
  8. Position Support Table (J-39580) under frame and lower vehicle onto table. Remove nuts securing engine mounts to engine mount brackets. Secure front hoist pads to vehicle. Remove 6 frame mount bolts. Raise vehicle slowly. Attach an engine lift to engine.
  9. Remove heater pipes. Remove coil cassette ground wire to cylinder head. Disconnect engine wiring harness from engine. Remove crossover pipe to cylinder head. Remove power steering pump. Remove rear and front transaxle brace. Remove engine to transaxle bolts. Raise engine from frame and transaxle assembly.
