Body Frame - Removal, Replacement and Installation: Removal & Installation Volvo V70 II

Side Member, Rear, Replace

When replacing the side member, the alignment bench and its units of measurement must be used.

Use a puller tool. See Aligning the rear frame member .

Pull out the bodywork to the correct dimension.

Cut or saw away the damaged sections.

Use an angle grinder or plasma torch to cut the bumper rail.

Remove 50 mm more of the cover for the side member than the side member (Dimension A).

Carry out procedure Wheel housing, rear, replacing (Bifuel) or Wheel housing, rear, replacing (other engines).

Spot-weld the reinforcement in the replacement part.

Secure the rear side member

Use the measurement system on the alignment bench.

Weld into place.

Grind the welds.

Carry out operation Spare wheel well, replacing .

Cut the cover for the rear frame member.

Outer edge M2 dimension = 40 mm.

Spot-weld the cover for the rear side member.
