Customer adjustment

The parameters for customer adjustments are data that can be adjusted when the customer is not happy with a particular function or when the system is supplemented with an optional component. The parameters are designed around the car equipment and are implemented in the factory.

Note. When installing or replacing the climate control module the parameters must be updated according to the previous setting.

The following parameters can be programmed if adjustment is required

  1. Blower fan run on.
  2. Timed recirculation.
  3. If the climate control system air intake has a passenger compartment ventilation filter or not.
  4. Adjusting blower fan speed in relation to the blower fan switch position.
  5. Adjusting passenger compartment air temperature in relation to temperature controls.
  6. Adjusting passenger compartment air temperature in relation to temperature sensors signal.
  7. Adjusting passenger compartment air temperature in relation to sun sensors signal.
  8. Adjusting the air distribution between the floor and defroster vents.

Note. Other parameters which are dependent on the car equipment are stored in the central electronic module (CEM).

ABS(Antilock Brake System). Control module for the anti lock braking system.
A/CAir conditioning, cooling the incoming airflow.
Audio control moduleAudio Module. The audio module is the control module for the audio system. The audio module is integrated in the head unit.
AUTOAutomatic climate control. Electronic climate control (ECC).
CCM(Climate Control Module) The control module for the climate control system
CEM(Central Electronic Module). The central module in the car network.
DDM(Driver Wheel Module). The module to which the components at the driver's door are connected.
DIM(Driver Information Module) The module which controls the display on the combined instrument panel.
ECC(Electronic Climate Control). This is a fully automatic climate control system with air conditioning and the possibility of manual settings.
ECM(Engine Control Module). The control module which governs the functions of the engine.
EFCM(Engine Fan Control Module). The unit which controls the engine cooling fan (FC).
Blower fan run onThe blower fan run on reduces the amount of water remaining in the evaporator.
Fluorescent agentAdditive in the receiver drier to facilitate fault-tracing. The material dissolves and mixes with the fluid throughout the system.
Freeze protectionA temperature sensor measures the air flow temperature downstream of the evaporator. The sensor signal is used to switch off the compressor if there is risk of freezing.
Yellow chromatingTreatment for the evaporator aluminum surface to prevent corrosion.

Speed compensationThe airflow is speed compensated through control of the blower fan up to 160 km/h. At higher speeds the fresh air shutter is used for speed compensation.

Customer parameterThe configuration parameter that may be changed at the workshop or by the customer without approval by Volvo.
MCC(Manual Climate Control). Manual climate control system with air conditioning.

PDM(Passenger Door Module). Module to which components at the passenger door are connected.
Polyurethane coatingA plastic coating covering the evaporator. Surface tension is reduced and any water collection runs off. The risk of bad smells is reduced.
Particle filterThe particle filter is standard and is mounted downstream of the blower fan so that even recirculated air is cleaned.

R

RAM(Random Access Memory). A working memory that the computer can both write on and read off.
REM(Rear Electronic Module). The module to which components in the rear of the car are connected.
SRM(Sun Roof Module). The module the sun roof is connected to.
STD(Standard heater). Manual climate control, without air conditioning.
Damper motorsUsed to control the shutters. The degree of turn and speed is controlled by the climate control module.
SWM(Steering Wheel Module) Module to which the controls at the steering wheel are connected.
TEV(Thermostatic expansion valve). The valve is a pressure and temperature dependent block type flow regulator.
TXVThermostatic expansion Valve. The same as TEV.
Thermo switchTransmits the signal indicating that the compressor should be switched off when there is a risk of seizing.
UEM(Upper Electronic Module). The module to which components in the roof of the car are connected.

Fluid hammeringOccurs when the safety valve opens because of fluid gathering in the air conditioning compressor.
