Removal & Installation (Non-Turbo)

1. Obtain anti-theft radio security code. Remove styling cover. Disconnect negative battery cable. See «BATTERY DISCONNECT PRECAUTIONS»(ref-165771-S19678200132004090300000). Remove air cleaner housing. Pull air intake backward (toward engine) so that it disconnects from its mounting under front cover plate. Disconnect hose clamp for air hose. Remove all air hoses and connectors from air cleaner. Remove air cleaner housing from its mountings. Pull it straight up.
2. Remove bolt securing starter bracket. Disconnect electrical connections from starter solenoid. Remove bolts securing starter to transmission. (Scheme 1) Remove starter.
3. To remove starter solenoid, remove 3 bolts securing starter solenoid. (Scheme 2) Unhook solenoid, spring and hook, lift out solenoid. Tighten all bolts/nuts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-165771-S01442158212004090300000).

Removal & Installation (Turbo)

1. Obtain anti-theft radio security code. Remove styling cover. Disconnect negative battery cable. See «BATTERY DISCONNECT PRECAUTIONS»(ref-165771-S19678200132004090300000).
2. Remove air intake manifold between front cover plate and air cleaner housing. Remove hose between Charge Air Cooler (CAC) and electronic throttle module. (Scheme 3)
3. Remove bolt securing starter bracket. Disconnect electrical connections from starter solenoid. Remove bolts securing starter to transmission. (Scheme 1) Remove starter.
4. To remove starter solenoid, remove 3 bolts securing starter solenoid. (Scheme 2) Unhook solenoid, spring and hook, lift out solenoid. Tighten all bolts/nuts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-165771-S01442158212004090300000).
