BATTERY DISCONNECT PRECAUTIONS

CAUTIONAlways disconnect battery negative cable first. DO NOT disconnect positive cable in engine compartment first.

Check that SRS warning light on dashboard goes out. Once battery has been connected, check operation of radio, clock and convenience electronics.

Air Bag

WARNINGIgnition key must be in position II. NO ONE must be in vehicle when battery is connected. This is a safety precaution in case an air bag module activates when power is connected.

Anti-Theft

CAUTIONTurn ignition to OFF position. Before disconnecting negative battery terminal, obtain anti-theft radio security code. Disconnect negative battery terminal. After reconnecting battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio.

Blower Fan

If the car is equipped with Manual (MCC) or Standard climate control, the blower fan speed must recalibrated if the battery has been disconnected. Turn ignition on. Turn the blower fan switch to maximum. Turn the blower fan switch to minimum. The calibration is complete.

ECM

If connector is disconnected from ECM or battery is disconnected, all adaptation values in control module are erased. DTC memory content will remain intact however. If engine is started after this, a rough, uneven idle can result. In this case, engine must be allowed to run at idle for a few minutes or a longer road test must be performed until adaptation procedure has been completed.

Power Windows

Completely open and close all power windows.

Central Locking, Lighting & Sun Roof

Initialize the central locking, interior lighting and sun roof by unlocking the car using a remote control, key or VADIS (Volvo factory scan tool) vehicle communication.

Stereo

All vehicles are equipped with an anti-theft stereo system that requires a code to activate. Record stereo code BEFORE disconnecting negative battery cable. Disconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition to position II. Reconnect negative battery cable. Enter code into stereo and reset clock.
