Battery, replacement (large cover)

Removing the battery

Note. To determine whether or not the battery is working, the performance of the battery must be checked in accordance with: Fault-tracing and testing the battery (if not performed earlier).

Scheme 4

Remove

1. the floor hatch
2. the nuts, 2, which attaches the mounting to the floor and undo the nut holding the mounting to the rear crossmember
3. the mounting
4. the splash guard.

Scheme 5

Pull the drain hose off the side of the battery

Remove

1. the battery cables from the battery terminals
2. the screw and the bracket.

Lift out the battery.

Installing the battery

Install

1. the battery
2. the screw and the bracket, tighten to 25 Nm
3. the battery cables on the battery terminals, tighten to 2.5 Nm
4. the draining hose on the battery end plate
5. the protective cover
6. the mounting
7. the nuts, 2, which attaches the mounting to the floor and tighten the nut holding the mounting to the rear crossmember
8. the floor hatch.

Battery, replacement (small cover)

Note. If the vehicle is equipped with auxiliary rear facing seat or with bass loudspeaker control module (SUB), see: Battery, replacement (large cover) .

Removing the battery

Note. To determine whether or not the battery is working, the performance of the battery must be checked in accordance with: Fault-tracing and testing the battery (if not performed earlier).

Scheme 6

Fold up the floor hatch

Remove

1. the nut (1) which attaches the mounting to the floor and undo the nut holding the mounting to the rear crossmember
2. the mounting.

Bend up the terminal cover (3).

Pull the drain hose off the side of the battery

Remove

1. the battery cables from the battery terminals
2. the screw and the bracket.

Lift out the battery.

Installing the battery

Transfer the terminal cover to the new battery.

Install

1. the battery
2. the screw and the bracket, tighten to 25 Nm
3. the battery cables on the battery terminals, tighten to 2.5 Nm
4. the draining hose on the battery end plate
5. the terminal cover (3).

Install

1. the mounting
2. the nut (1) which attaches the mounting to the floor and tighten the nut holding the mounting to the rear crossmember
3. the floor hatch.
