Remove and Install Alternator Opel Vectra C

Remove

  1. 1. Open bonnet
  2. 2. Disconnect battery.
  3. 3. Release right front wheel • Release 5x bolt
  4. 4. Raise vehicle by half its height
  5. 5. Disconnect right front wheel. • Unscrew 5x bolt
  6. 6. Release right axle shaft • Counterhold with KM-468-B (1) • Unscrew 2x nut
  1. 7. Raise vehicle by half its height
  2. 8. Remove engine splash guard (right-hand) (1) • Unscrew 4x bolt (2)
  1. 9. Detach ribbed V-belt from alternator pulley • Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner (1) in direction of arrow
  1. 10. Detach tie rod end from steering knuckle • Unscrew nut • Push tie rod end out with KM-161-B together with hook KM-161-2 (1)
  2. 11. Detach control arm guide joint (2) from steering knuckle • Remove bolt • Pull control arm downwards (arrow) and remove guide joint from steering knuckle

Note. Do not use any spreader tool to remove the guide joint from the steering knuckle

  1. 12. Detach axle shaft from wheel hub • Attach KM-6282 (3) to wheel hub • Push axle shaft out of wheel hub

Note. Use 3 wheel bolts.

Note. Use a wrench to counterhold at the hex of KM-6282 .

  1. 13. Pull axle shaft from intermediate shaft • Hold with a soft metal drift (4) and push away from intermediate shaft • Remove axle body

Note. Be careful not to damage hydraulic line (5) on front axle body!

  1. 14. Disconnect alternator electrically • Disconnect wiring harness connector. • Unscrew 2x nut
  2. 15. Detach alternator from alternator bracket • Unscrew 2x bolt (2) • Lay alternator aside
  3. 16. Remove alternator bracket • Unscrew 4x bolt
  1. 17. Remove alternator

Install

  1. 18. Insert alternator
  2. 19. Install alternator bracket • Tighten 2x bolt-M8 22 Nm • Tighten 2x bolt-M10 50 Nm
  3. 20. Attach alternator to bracket • Tighten 2x bolts 50 Nm
  4. 21. Connect up alternator • Connect wiring harness plug • Tighten 2x nut 13 Nm
  5. 22. Renew retainer on the inner axle shaft joint (1) • Remove the retainer with a screwdriver • Insert a new retainer in the groove on the axle shaft
  1. 23. Install axle shaft • Insert axle shaft in wheel hub • Insert axle shaft in intermediate shaft • Push axle shaft by hand on to brake disc in intermediate shaft (arrow) until retainer engages

Important. Be careful of control arm guide joint (1)

  1. 24. Attach axle shaft to wheel hub • Screw new nut (1) on loosely • Attach control arm guide joint (2) to steering knuckle – Tighten new bolt with new nut 30 Nm + 60 ° + 15° • Attach KM-468-B (3) to wheel hub – Use 2 wheel bolts • Tighten new nut (4) • Detach KM-468-B (3) from wheel hub

Note. Tighten nut to 150 Nm . Then loosen it by 45° and tighten again, to 250 Nm .

  1. 25. Attach tie rod end (2) to steering knuckle • Tighten new nut 35 Nm
  2. 26. Attach swing arm to spring strut supporting tube • Tighten new nut 65 Nm

Note. Counterhold with a wrench on the flats of the ball-headed joint pin.

  1. 27. Install right-hand engine splash guard • Tighten 4x bolt
  2. 28. Lower the vehicle by half its height
  3. 29. Attach right front wheel • Screw in 5x bolt
  4. 30. Lower the vehicle by half its height
  5. 31. Secure right front wheel • Tighten 5x bolt 110 Nm
  6. 32. Connect battery.
  7. 33. Program volatile memories
  8. 34. Close bonnet
