Note:

During this test, the security code, the engine type/ engine number, the mechanical key number and the vehicle identification number (chassis number) are programmed consecutively. This procedure is necessary when a new immobiliser control unit is installed in a vehicle. If a new engine control unit is installed in a vehicle, the security code does not have to be programmed, as it is stored in the immobiliser control unit, not in the engine control unit. The other data (engine type, mechanical key number and vehicle identification number) can then be programmed individually (see sections 3.1.5.4 to 3.1.5.6). For the valid security code, engine number, mechanical key number and vehicle identification number, consult the car pass issued to the customer on delivery of the vehicle.

Important:

The security code consists of a four digit number combination and can only be programmed once. Thereafter, it can be neither altered nor deleted; for this reason, proceed with great care when programming.

Ignition OFF

Press key F7 in the system main menu, select the desired test using the arrow keys and confirm with YES. Follow the instructions in the TECH 1 display.

Note:

The arrow keys can now be used to program the security code, by selecting the desired digit and confirming with YES. TECH 1 automatically jumps to the next digit once confirmation has been received. The cursor for the next digit being programmed flashes on the TECH 1 display. Once all four security code digits have been programmed, input is confirmed with ENTER. The security code can now no longer be altered.

Important:

The security code is always entered consecutively twice. TECH 1 than compares the entered codes and evaluates the results.

If TECH 1 shows the display on the right, a fault has occurred during the programming of the security code (TECH 1 has determined a fault on comparison of the two inputs).

If programming was okay, TECH 1 automatically jumps to the next code to be programmed (engine type).

In this mode, the engine type that is installed must be selected from the list presented on TECH 1.

If the display on the right appears on TECH 1, an engine type that does not match the installed engine was selected.

If the display on the right appears on TECH 1, a fault has occurred during programming.

The mechanical key number consists of a five-character letter and digit combination. The first position is a letter, the four following positions are digits.

It is now possible to program the mechanical key number using the arrow keys. If a letter or digit is correct, confirm the input with YES and TECH 1 automatically jumps to the next position. The cursor for the position being programmed flashes on the TECH 1 display.

Once all 5 positions have been entered, the programming can be confirmed with ENTER.

If the display on the right appears on TECH 1, a fault has occurred during programming.

If programming was okay, TECH 1 automatically jumps to the next code to be programmed (vehicle identification number).

The last ten characters of the vehicle identification number (chassis number) are stored in the immobiliser control unit. That means that a ten-character combination of digits and letters is programmed. The first two positions are letters or digits, the third position is a letter for the Model Year, the fourth position is a letter or a digit again and the following six positions are digits.

It is now possible to program the vehicle identification number using the arrow keys. If a letter or digit is correct, confirm the input with YES and TECH 1 automatically jumps to the next position. The cursor for the position being programmed flashes on the TECH 1 display.

Once all ten positions have been entered, the programming can be confirmed with ENTER.

If the display on the right appears on TECH 1, a fault has occurred during programming.
