*) For this, remove storage tray on passenger side and right A pillar inner panelling.

Note:

Compressor relay K60 switches the compressor magnetic clutch Y1 on if the following conditions are fulfilled:

- Compressor clutch can only be engaged when the engine is running.

- Engine running at nominal idle speed, operating temperature.

- Ambient temperature > 4 °C/40 °F.

- Air conditioning switched on.

- Low pressure in refrigerant circuit > 180 kPa (1.8 bar).

- High pressure in refrigerant circuit < 3000 kPa (30 bar).

- Vehicles with C 14 NZ engine and power steering: power steering pressure switch S61 closed.

- Pressure at switch S61 < 4000 kPa (40 bar).

Possible cause of fault, trouble-shooting

1. Fuse F17/10A defective.

2. Lead interruption between X6 (61/bushing) and output fuse F17/10A.

3. Lead interruption between X6 (61/pin) and compressor relay K60/Ter. 86 (2).

4. Lead interruption between compressor relay K60/Ter. 85 (6) and X6 (60/pin).

5. Lead interruption between X6 (60/bushing) and X4 (4/bushing).

6. Lead interruption between X4 (4/pin) and control unit, MULTEC; X 14 XE, X 16 XE: K91 (A15); C 14 SE: K91 (A10); C 14 NZ: K57 (A2).

7. Lead interruption between compressor relay K60/Ter. 30 (4) and power steering pressure switch S61 (B). **)

8. Lead interruption between power steering pressure switch S61 (A) and X6 (54/pin) or pressure switch ASSY. S20 (2). **)

9. Lead interruption between compressor relay K60/Ter. 87 (8) and wiring harness plug for compressor magnetic coupling Y1 (BRBL/brown-blue).

10. Control unit, MULTEC-S (MUL), MULTEC (MUL) or MULTEC-M (MUL) defective *).

11. Power steering pressure switch S61 defective - see test step 19 **).

*) Carry out quick check F0:DATA LIST with TECH 1.
