Trouble Code Table
The MID is equipped with automatic self - diagnosis.
Faults which occur in the MID itself or in the sensors (periphery) of the system are stored in a fault memory (EEPROM, non - volatile data memory) and can be read out using the TECH 1 tester.
If a fault occurs, an "F" is displayed on the left of the clock hours display.

| 81 | Serial Data Line (SDA), short circuit to ground |
| 82 | Serial Clock Line (SCL), short circuit to ground |
| 83 | Master Request Line (MRQ), short circuit to ground |
| 84 | SDA, open lead or short circuit to battery voltage |
| 85 | SCL, open lead or short circuit to battery voltage |
| 86 | MRQ, open lead or short circuit to battery voltage |
| 87 | SDA / SCL short circuit |
| 88 | SDA / MRQ short circuit |
| 89 | SCL / MRQ short circuit |
| 91 | SDA / SCL leads mixed up |
| 92 | SCL / MRQ leads mixed up |
| 93 | Radio internal fault |
| 94 | SDA / SCL / MRQ data comparison fault |
| 95 | SDA / SCL / MRQ interruption during data transfer (radio / MID) Loose contact |
| 96 | SDA / MRQ leads mixed up |
| 121 | Radio fault active |
| 167 | Fuel reserve sensor: short circuit to ground |
| 168 | Fuel reserve sensor: short circuit to battery voltage |
| 169 | Ambient temperature sensor: short circuit to ground |
