The TECH 1 display shows the-30 °C approx. 4,47 V
current , undampened outside-20 °C approx. 4,12 V
temperature. The MID shows the-10 °C approx. 3,65 V
dampened outside temperature, i.e.0 °C approx. 3,05 V
the outside temperature averaged10 °C approx. 2,46 V
over an extended period of time.20 °C approx. 1,91 V

40 °C approx. 1,09 V
45 °C approx. 0,92 V
Notes for Trouble-shooting:Nominal Value:Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

· Release and disconnect wiring harness plug from outside temperature sensor P13
· Ignition ON
· Measure voltage between both connections of sensor plug:higher than 4.5 V· Lead from outside temperature sensor P13 to 26-pin MID wiring harness plug Ter. 4 has short circuit to ground or is interrupted.
· Measure resistance of outside temperature sensor P13:see table at the end of this test step, depending on outside temperature
· Outside temperature sensor P13 defective.
· Remove instrument assembly
· Release 26-pin wiring harness plug and disconnect from MID display
· Ignition ON
· Measure voltage to ground at Ter. 3 and then at Ter. 4 of 26-pin MID wiring harness plug:lower than 1 V· Short circuit to + battery voltage in lead from MID to outside temperature sensor via wiring harness plug connection X1/Ter. 32 or Ter. 34
· Measure resistance to ground:higher than 200 kW· Short circuit to ground in lead from MID to outside temperature sensor via X1/Ter. 32 or Ter. 34.
· Measure resistance between Ter. 3 and Ter. 4:higher than 200 kW· Mutual lead short circuit in lead to outside temperature sensor via X1/Ter. 32 or Ter. 34

· Connect wiring harness plug connection for outside temperature sensor P13 again.

· Measure resistance in MID wiring harness plug between Ter. 4 andsee table below, depending on outside temperature· Interruption in lead connection from MID to outside temperature sensor P13
Ter. 3:
If nominal values are attained:
· MID defective

· Resistance of outside
