Swirl Chamber Check and Replace Opel Campo I

Clean

Combustion face of cylinder head taking care not to damage swirl chamber surfaces.

Inspect

Depth of swirl chambers below cylinder head - apply straight edge from number 1 to number 4 swirl chambers. If dimension exceeds 0.02 mm replace swirl chambers or cylinder head.

Check for damage and cracking replace as necessary.

Mark swirl chambers for cylinder position.

Remove

Swirl chambers – if swirl chambers stick drive out using soft metal drift inserted through injector hole. Tap out lightly using a hammer.

Install

Swirl chambers to cylinder head – use plastic hammer to partially install.

Caution

Take care to correctly position centring balls which prevent swirl chambers from turning.

Install

Swirl chamber fully into cylinder head - place metal plate approximately 25 mm thick over swirl chamber then fully install using press with force of 44 100 – 53 900 N.

Caution

Do not exceed specified force or cylinder head will be damaged.

Check swirl chamber is firmly seated - lightly tap with plastic hammer.

Caution

Grind swirl chamber flush with surface of cylinder head - use surface grinder.

Check swirl chamber has no depressions and is firmly seated – lightly tap with plastic hammer.
