Engine Cooling System Description and Operation Opel Agila B

Engine Cooling ~194 words

The cooling system consists of the radiator, coolant compensation tank, hoses, water pump, cooling fan and thermostat. The radiator is a tube and fin type.

The coolant in the system expands with heat and the coolant overflows to the reservoir. When the engine cools down, the coolant is drawn back into the system.

The cooling system has been filled at the factory with a coolant that is a 50/50 mixture of water and ethylene glycol antifreeze.

The coolant compensation tank consists of a plastic tank, a hose and a coolant compensation tank cap.

During operation the coolant compensation tank is under pressure. As the coolant warms up and expands, the coolant level in the coolant compensation tank rises. As the coolant cools down and contracts the coolant level lowers.

When the pressure applied to the coolant compensation tank constantly exceeds the specified value, the pressure is relieved through the coolant compensation tank cap
