Inverted Struts

Use of inverted struts ensures smooth shock absorber action even during high speed cornering that places high lateral G-force on the suspension.

Coil Springs

The coil spring rate was optimized and high-response spring material is used to achieve high durability and reduce weight.

Stabilizer

A change to pillow ball joints for the stabilizer link improves stabilizer efficiency to deliver a high level of stability.

Crossmember

A reinforcing bar (front axle crossmember bar) mounts (A-points) increases lateral rigidity. This improves steering feel and adds extra stiffness when cornering.

Strut Insulator

Input from the struts has been changed from a separation pattern to a unified one and the use of a metal bearing achieves greater rigidity, durability, and lower friction.

Checking Wheel Bearing End Play

1. Remove the caliper assembly and suspend it with a wire. See «FRONT BRAKE CALIPER»(ref-163016-S12518411572004061600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in DISC - EVOLUTION article under BRAKES.
2. Remove the brake disc from the front hub. See «FRONT BRAKE ROTOR»(ref-163016-S28422814082004061600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in DISC - EVOLUTION article under BRAKES.
3. Attach a dial gauge as shown in illustration, and then measure the end play while moving the hub in the axial direction. (Scheme 61)
4. If end play is more than 0.002" (0.05 mm), disassemble the front hub assembly and check the parts. Repair as necessary.
5. Install the brake disc, caliper assembly and tighten the caliper assembly mounting bolts. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-170069-S16787094772004122900000).

BALL JOINT DUST COVER

Note. If the dust cover is cracked or damaged, it is possible that there may also be damage to the ball joint.

Press the dust cover with your finger to check that there are no cracks or damage in the dust cover. If the dust cover is cracked or damaged, replace the lower arm assembly
