THERMOSTAT HOUSING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - HYBRID

Note. The thermostat and thermostat housing are serviced as an assembly.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See «LIFTING»(ref-373073-S06960946762010100600000) .
2. Drain the cooling system. See «COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - HYBRID»(ref-373089-S41502309662010100600000) .
3. Remove the accessory drive belt. See «ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT - HYBRID REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-373078-S34131091992010100600000) .
4. Remove the 3 bolts and reposition the thermostat housing to gain access to the hose clamps. Remove and discard the gasket. To install, tighten to 10 N.m {1.0 kgf.m, 89 in.lbf}. NOTE: The view of the thermostat housing bolts is obstructed by A/C and engine components. However, the bolts can be removed using 1/4-in drive hand tools.
5. Disconnect the heater hose at the thermostat housing.
6. Disconnect the lower radiator hose at the thermostat housing.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Install a new gasket.
8. Fill and bleed the cooling system. See «COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - HYBRID»(ref-373089-S41502309662010100600000) .

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See «LIFTING»(ref-373073-S06960946762010100600000) .
2. Drain the cooling system. See «COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - HYBRID»(ref-373089-S41502309662010100600000) .
3. Remove the accessory drive belt. See «ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT - HYBRID REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-373078-S34131091992010100600000) .
4. Remove the 3 bolts and the water pump pulley. To install, tighten to 20 N.m {2.0 kgf.m, 177 in.lbf}.
5. Remove the 3 bolts and the water pump. Remove and discard the water pump O-ring seal. To install, tighten to 10 N.m {1.0 kgf.m, 89 in.lbf}. CAUTION: Make sure the coolant pump is correctly seated to the engine block before installing and tightening the fasteners, or damage to the coolant pump may occur.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Lubricate the new O-ring seal with clean engine coolant.
7. Fill and bleed the cooling system. See «COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - HYBRID»(ref-373089-S41502309662010100600000) .

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See «LIFTING»(ref-373073-S06960946762010100600000) .
2. Remove the front bumper cover. See «FRONT BUMPER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-373102-S01011443482010100600000) .
3. Remove the 2 front impact severity sensor. See «FRONT IMPACT SEVERITY SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-373086-S03559072482010100600000) .
4. Remove the 4 bolts and the 2 radiator brackets. To install, tighten to 10 N.m {1.0 kgf.m, 89 in.lbf}.
5. Remove the 2 bolts, the nut and position aside the hood latch. To install, tighten to 9 N.m {0.9 kgf.m, 80 in.lbf}. NOTE: Mark the hood latch position prior to removal of the bolts.
6. Remove the center support lower bolt. To install, tighten to 10 N.m {1.0 kgf.m, 89 in.lbf}.
7. Remove the bolt and the center support. To install, tighten to 10 N.m {1.0 kgf.m, 89 in.lbf}.
8. Remove the 2 cooling fan bolts and the cooling fan motor and shroud. To install, tighten to 7 N.m {0.7 kgf.m, 62 in.lbf}.
9. Disconnect the cooling fan resistor electrical connector.
10. Disconnect the 2 cooling fan electrical connectors.
11. Remove the 6 cooling fan bolts. To install, tighten to 8 N.m {0.8 kgf.m, 71 in.lbf}.
12. Remove the LH and the RH cooling fans. NOTE: Remove the LH cooling fan first and slide the RH cooling fan to the left side to remove.
13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
