INSPECTION OF OPERATION
- Turn the ignition switch from OFF to ON position.
- Verify that the O/D OFF indicator light is not illuminated. Press the O/D OFF switch and verify that the O/D OFF indicator light illuminates. Of not as specified, inspect the terminal voltage of the O/D OFF switch. (See «INSPECTION OF VOLTAGE»(ref-178052-S18698801252005061000000) .)

Scheme 162
- Turn the ignition switch at ON position.
- Measure the voltage at the O/D OFF switch connector. If not as specified, inspect for continuity at the O/D OFF switch. (See «INSPECTION OF CONTINUITY»(ref-178052-S18626077692005061000000) .)

- Disconnect the O/D OFF switch connector.
- Inspect continuity at the O/D OFF switch. If the switch is okay, inspect the wiring harness. (O/D OFF switch-TCM, O/D OFF switch-Body ground) If not as specified, replace the selector lever component. (See SELECTOR LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Verify that the starter operates only with the ignition switch at the START position and the selector lever in P and N positions. If not as specified, inspect for continuity at the TR switch. (See «INSPECTION OF CONTINUITY»(ref-178052-S29144462272005061000000) .)
- Verify that the back-up lights illuminate when shifted to R position with the ignition switch at the ON position. If not as specified, inspect for continuity at the TR switch.

- Disconnect the TR switch connector.
- Inspect for continuity at the TR switch. If not as specified, adjust the TR switch, then reinspect the TR switch. (See «TRANSAXLE RANGE (TR) SWITCH ADJUSTMENT»(ref-178052-S21445023362005061000000) .)
- Connect the TR switch connector.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the battery carrier, battery tray, and battery.
- Remove the air cleaner component. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the TR switch connector.
- Removal the spring and disconnect the selector cable.
- Rotate the manual shaft to the N position.
- Set the adjustable wrench as shown to hold the manual shaft lever.
- Remove the manual shaft nut and washer.
- Remove the manual shaft lever.
- Remove the TR switch.
- Rotate the manual shaft to the right fully, them return 2 notches to set the N position. CAUTION: Improper adjustment of the TR switch will cause abnormal operation of the automatic transaxle. Be sure to use the SST to adjust the TR switch correctly.
- Using the SST and by turning the TR switch, adjust the positions of the manual shaft and the TR switch neutral hole.
- Tighten the TR switch mounting bolts. Tightening Torque 4.9-6.9 N.m {50.0-70.4 kgf.cm, 43.4-61.1 in-lbf}
- Inspect for continuity at the TR switch between terminals C and D.
- Remove the SST .
- Install the manual shaft lever and washer.
- Set the adjustable wrench as shown to hold the manual shaft lever.
- Tighten the manual shaft nut using a torque wrench. Tightening Torque 31-46 N.m {3.2-4.7 kgf.m, 23-34 ft.lbf}
- Install the spring as shown in the figure. If it is bend, replace a new spring.
- Verify that the selector lever range position and TR switch are aligned, then connect the selector cable.
- Inspect for continuity at the TR switch. (See «INSPECTION OF CONTINUITY»(ref-178052-S29144462272005061000000) .)
- Connect the TR switch connector.
- Install the air cleaner component. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Install the battery carrier, battery tray, and battery.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Inspect operation of the TR switch. (See «INSPECTION OF OPERATION»(ref-178052-S29124378372005061000000) .)
- Turn the ignition switch from OFF to ON position.
- Verify that the O/D OFF indicator light is not illuminated.
- Press the switch and verify that the O/D OFF indicator illuminates. If the O/D OFF switch function is not as specified, after checking the O/D OFF switch (See «O/D OFF SWITCH INSPECTION»(ref-178052-S11832284492005061000000) .), inspect the terminal voltage of the O/D OFF indicator light.

- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Inspect continuity between terminal 1H and TCM terminal 1E. If not as specified, inspect the wiring harness (instrument cluster-TCM). If as specified, go to the next step.
- Inspect continuity between terminals 1H and 3J. If not as specified, replace the instrument cluster or bulb.
