Emergency Override Button Inspection

  1. Switch the ignition to off.
  2. Verify that the selector lever is in the P position.
  3. Without the brake pedal depressed, verify that the selector lever cannot be shifted from the P position.
  4. Remove the panel cover using a tape-wrapped head screwdriver as shown in the illustration.
  5. Insert the flathead screwdriver into the emergency override hole and push it down.
  6. Verify that the selector lever can be shifted from the P position.
  1. If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever component. (See «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448660-S23046278992012012000000) .)

Key Interlock System Inspection

  1. Switch the ignition to ON.
  2. Perform the following procedures to inspect the key interlock system. If there is any malfunction, inspect the key interlock solenoid and NOT P position switch. (See «KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID INSPECTION»(ref-448660-S36288601542012012000000) .) (See «NOT P POSITION SWITCH INSPECTION»(ref-448660-S28769756362012012000000) .) Verify that the ignition cannot be switched to off when the selector lever is not in the P position. Verify that the ignition can be switched to off when the selector lever is in the P position.

Key Interlock Solenoid Inspection

CAUTIONWater or foreign objects entering the connector can cause a poor connection or corrosion. Be sure not to drop water or foreign objects on the connector when disconnecting it.

  1. Disconnect the key interlock solenoid connector. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the column cover. (See «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448656-S12743804542012012000000) .) Disconnect the key interlock solenoid connector.
  2. Measure the resistance between key interlock solenoid terminals A and B. If there is any malfunction, replace the steering lock. (See «STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITH ADVANCED KEYLESS ENTRY AND PUSH BUTTON START SYSTEM]»(ref-448619-S18771656912012012000000) .) Key interlock solenoid specification 22.95-28.05 ohms

NOT P Position Switch Inspection

  1. Disconnect the selector lever component connector. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the rear console. (See «REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448656-S24311442192012012000000) .) Disconnect the selector lever component connector.
  2. Measure the continuity between selector lever component terminals G and K.
  1. If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever component. (See «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448660-S23046278992012012000000) .)
