HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

HINT

  1. Use this procedure to troubleshoot the active engine mounting system.
  2. Techstream should be used in steps 2, 6 and 7.
  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP NEXT: Go to next step
  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS NEXT: Go to next step
  3. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE Standard voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding. NEXT: Go to next step
  4. CHECK AND CLEAR DTCS Refer to the DTC CHECK / CLEAR. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-396641-S14208775922011050900000) . NEXT: Go to next step
  5. VISUAL INSPECTION NEXT: Go to next step
  6. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST Connect Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Select the item "Powertrain / E-ACM / Active Test / Check the E-ACM". NEXT: Go to next step
  7. CHECK FOR DTC Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output. Delete the DTC. Recheck for DTCs. Try to prompt the DTC by simulating the original activity that the DTC suggests. Scheme 396: DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
  1. DESCRIPTION The active control engine mount ECU controls the functions of the CAN communication system on the vehicle. Data of the CAN communication system and the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be read through the Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3) of the vehicle.
  2. CHECK DLC3 The vehicle's ECU uses ISO 15765-4 for communication protocol. The terminal arrangement of the DLC3 complies with SAEJ 1962 and matches the ISO 15765-4 format. After connecting the cable of Techstream, turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the tester on. If a communication failure message is displayed on the tester screen, a problem exists in either the vehicle or tester. In order to identify the location of the problem, connect the tester to another vehicle. If communication is normal: Inspect the DLC3 on the original vehicle. If communication is still not possible: The problem is probably in the tester itself. Consult the Service Department listed in the instruction manual. Techstream HINT: Connect the cable of Techstream to the DLC3, turn the engine switch on (IG) and attempt to use the tester. If the display indicates that a communication error has occurred, there is a problem either with the vehicle or with the tester. If communication is normal when the tester is connected to another vehicle, inspect the DLC3 of the original vehicle. If communication is still not possible when the tester is connected to another vehicle, the problem may be in the tester itself. Consult the Service Department listed in the tester's instruction manual.
  3. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE Standard voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

DTC CHECK / CLEAR

  1. CHECK DTC Connect Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Enter the following menus: Powertrain / E-ACM / Trouble Codes. Check the DTCs on the tester screen. HINT: Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.
  2. CLEAR DTC Connect Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Erase the DTCs by following the prompts on the tester screen. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / E-ACM / Trouble Codes. Erase the DTC. HINT: Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.

DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. DATA LIST HINT: Using Techstream Data List allows switch, sensor, actuator and other item values to be read without removing any parts. Reading the Data List early in troubleshooting is one way to shorten labor time. NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not. Warm up the engine. Turn the engine switch off. Connect Techstream together to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn on the tester. Select the item "Powertrain / E-ACM / Data List". According to the display on the tester, read the "Data List".   2. ACTIVE TEST HINT: Performing the Active Test using Techstream allows the actuator and so on to operate without parts removal. Performing the Active Test as the first step in troubleshooting is one method to shorten labor time. It is possible to display the Data List during the Active Test. Warm up the engine. Turn the engine switch off. Connect Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Push the "ON" button of Techstream. Select the item "Powertrain / E-ACM / Active Test".
