DTC P1296: NO 5 VOLTS TO MAP SENSOR Jeep Cherokee II рестайлинг

Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For circuit identification and wiring diagram, see CHEROKEE wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article.

Note. DTC P1296: NO 5 VOLTS TO MAP SENSOR is monitored with ignition off and battery voltage more than 10.4 volts. DTC may be stored in Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when PCM senses Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor voltage is less than 2.35 volts for 5 seconds with key off. Possible causes are: defective MAP sensor, defective PCM, defective connectors or defective wiring.

  1. Start engine and allow it to idle. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor voltage. If voltage is less than.2 volt, turn engine off and go to step 3). If voltage is.2 volt or more, turn engine off and go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor voltage. If voltage is less than 3.19 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 3.19 volts or more, go to step 11).
  3. Ensure ignition is on, with engine off. Disconnect MAP sensor connector. (Схема №28) Clean and/or repair connector as necessary. Using a voltmeter, check voltage on MAP sensor connector, 5-volt supply circuit (Orange wire). If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 4.5 volts or less, go to step 8).
  4. Ensure ignition is on, with engine off. Ensure MAP sensor connector is still disconnected. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor voltage. If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, replace MAP sensor. Perform TEST VER-5A. If voltage is 4.5 volts or less, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Ensure MAP sensor connector is still disconnected. Disconnect PCM connectors. PCM is located in engine compartment. See PCM LOCATION table under SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS. Clean and/or repair connectors as necessary. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and MAP sensor connector, signal circuit (Dark Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in signal circuit. Perform TEST VER-5A. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  6. Ensure ignition is off. Ensure MAP sensor and PCM connectors are still disconnected. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between MAP sensor connector, signal circuit (Dark Green/Red wire) and sensor ground circuit (Brown/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair signal circuit for short to sensor ground circuit. Perform TEST VER-5A. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  7. At this time, PCM is assumed to be defective. Replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-5A.
  8. Ensure ignition is off. Ensure MAP sensor and PCM connectors are still disconnected. Using ohmmeter, check resistance of MAP sensor 5-volt supply circuit (Orange wire) between MAP sensor connector and PCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open 5-volt supply circuit. Perform TEST VER-5A.
  9. Ensure ignition is off. Ensure MAP sensor and PCM connectors are still disconnected. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and MAP sensor connector, 5-volt supply circuit (Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair 5-volt supply circuit for short to ground. Perform TEST VER-5A. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  10. At this time, PCM is assumed to be defective. Replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-5A.
  11. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Wiggle connectors and wiring harness from MAP sensor to PCM while monitoring MAP sensor voltage. (Схема №28) PCM is located in engine compartment. See PCM LOCATION table under SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS. If voltage changes while wiggling connectors and wiring harness, repair connectors and wiring harness where wiggling caused voltage to change. Perform TEST VER-5A. If voltage does not change, go to next step.
  12. Turn ignition off. Visually inspect related connectors and wiring harness. Repair connectors and wiring harness as necessary. Perform TEST VER-5A. If connectors and wiring harness are okay, test is complete.
