Draining
| WARNING | When releasing the system pressure, cover the expansion tank cap with a thick cloth to prevent the possibility of coolant scalding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury. |
Note. Use Jaguar Premium Cooling System Fluid E2FZ-19549-AA or E2FZ-19549-B.
- Relieve the cooling system pressure by slowly unscrewing the expansion tank cap. (Scheme 203) Remove the expansion tank cap after pressure has been relieved.
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove coolant drain plug and drain coolant into suitable container. (Scheme 204)
- Install radiator drain plug and tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-161157-S07430046262004032200000). Clean any coolant from the underside of the vehicle. Lower vehicle.
Refilling
- Remove engine cover. (Scheme 205)
- Remove the engine fill cap. (Scheme 206) Open the heater air bleed located next to the expansion tank and fill the cooling system at the engine fill point. Install the engine fill cap.
- Install the engine cover. (Scheme 205)
- Leaving the heater air bleed open, start the engine and set the heater temperature to 90°F (32°C). Close heater air bleed when a steady stream of coolant flows during engine idle.
- Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes. Add coolant as necessary to bring the coolant level to the COLD FILL MAX level.
- Open the heater air bleed releasing any trapped air. Close the heater air bleed.
- Increase the engine speed to 2000 RPM for between 3 and 5 minutes or until the heater is blowing hot air.
- Return the engine to idle and verify that heater is blowing hot air.
- Turn engine off and allow the vehicle to cool. Add coolant as necessary to bring the coolant level to the COLD FILL MAX level.
