DTC P0344: CMP Sensor A Circuit Intermittent Interruption Honda Element I

Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).

  1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  2. Start the engine, and let it idle 10 seconds.
  3. Check the CMP NOISE A count in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Are 0 counts indicated? YES- Go to step 6 . NO- Go to step 4 .
  4. Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of these recorded freeze data parameters: ENGINE SPEED VSS
  5. Check the CMP NOISE A count in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Are 0 counts indicated? YES- Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor A and the ECM/PCM. NO- Go to step 6 .
  6. Check for poor or loose connections and terminals at these locations: CMP sensor A ECM/PCM Engine ground Body ground Are the connections and terminals OK? YES- Go to step 7 . NO- Repair the connectors or terminals, then go to step 10 .
  7. Check CMP pulse plate A for damage (see «CMP PULSE PLATE A REPLACEMENT»(ref-220562-S05861520062006022000000) ). Is the pulse plate damaged? YES- Replace CMP pulse plate A (see «CMP PULSE PLATE A REPLACEMENT»(ref-220562-S05861520062006022000000) ), then go to step 10 . NO- Go to step 8.
  8. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  9. Replace CMP sensor A (see «CMP SENSOR A REPLACEMENT»(ref-220571-S08875611932006022000000) ).
  10. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  11. Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.
  12. Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure (see «ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220572-S08440202922006022000000) ).
  13. Start the engine, and let it idle 10 seconds.
  14. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES- If DTC P0344 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor A and the ECM/PCM, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting . NO- Troubleshooting is complete.
