DTC P16BB: Alternator B Terminal Circuit Low Voltage (2005-2006 models)
Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with HDS.
- Start the engine.
- Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
- Hold the engine speed at 2,000 RPM (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P16BB indicated? YES- Go to step 7 . NO- Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the under-hood fuse/relay box, and check the battery performance (see «BATTERY TEST»(ref-220619-S17396884802006022100000) ).
- Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the under-hood fuse/relay box (+B line). Are the connections and terminals OK? YES- Go to step 8 . NO- Repair the connectors or terminals, then go to step 9 .
- Check for an open in the wire between the alternator and under fuse/relay box at the starter subharness. Is the harness OK? YES- Replace the alternator (see «ALTERNATOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-220559-S01764025892006022000000) ), then go to step 9 . NO- Repair open in the wire between the alternator and the under-hood fuse/relay box, then go to step 9 .
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure (see «ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220572-S08440202922006022000000) ).
- Start the engine.
- Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
- Hold the engine speed at 2,000 RPM (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES- If DTC P16BB is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the under-hood fuse/relay box, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO- Troubleshooting is complete.
DTC P16BC: Alternator FR Terminal Circuit/IGP Circuit Low Voltage (2005-2006 models)
Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).

- Check for poor connections at the alternator 4P connector. Are the connections OK? YES- Go to step 2 . NO- Repair the connections, then go to step 18 .
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Start the engine.
- Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
- Hold the engine speed at 2,000 RPM (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P16BC indicated? YES- Go to step 8 . NO- Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the alternator 4P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between alternator 4P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES- Go to step 12 . NO- Repair open in the wire between the alternator (IG1 line) and the No. 4 ACG (10 A) fuse in under-dash fuse/relay box, then go to step 18 .
- Measure voltage between alternator 4P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground. Is there about 5 V? YES- Replace the alternator (see «ALTERNATOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-220559-S01764025892006022000000) ), then go to step 18 . NO- Go to step 13 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector B (24P).
- Connect alternator 4P connector terminal No. 4 to body ground with a jumper wire.
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal B13 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Go to step 26 . NO- Repair open in the wire between the ECM/PCM (B13) and the alternator, then go to step 18 .
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure (see «ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220572-S08440202922006022000000) ).
- Start the engine.
- Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
- Hold the engine speed at 2,000 RPM (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES- If DTC P16BC is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the ECM/PCM, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting . NO- Troubleshooting is complete.
- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ).
- Start the engine.
- Check under these conditions: A/C on Temperature control at maximum cool Blower fan at maximum speed Rear window defogger on Headlights on high beam
- Hold the engine speed at 2,000 RPM (in Park or neutral) for 1 minute.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES- If DTC P16BC is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the alternator and the ECM/PCM, then go to step 1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting . NO- If the ECM/PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM/PCM was substituted, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ).
DTC P2A00: A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) Circuit Range/Performance Problem
Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 RPM without load (in Park or neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
- Test-drive under these conditions: ECT SENSOR above 158°F (70°C) A/T in D position (M/T in 3rd gear) Drive the vehicle between 25 mph (40 km/h) and 55 mph (88 km/h) for 5 minutes. Drive at a steady speed between 55 mph (88 km/h) and 75 mph (120 km/h) for 10 seconds, then slow down with the throttle completely closed for 4 seconds.
- Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2A00 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS. Does the screen indicate FAILED? YES- Go to step 6 . NO- If the screen indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) and the ECM/PCM. If the screen indicates EXECUTING, keep driving until a result comes on. If the screen indicates OUT OF CONDITION, go to step 3 and recheck.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Replace the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) (see «A/F SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S42298875192006022000000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure (see «ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-220572-S08440202922006022000000) ).
- Test-drive under these conditions: ECT SENSOR above 158°F (70°C) A/T in D position (M/T in 3rd gear) Drive the vehicle between 25 mph (40 km/h) and 55 mph (88 km/h) for 5 minutes. - Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Do the gauge self-diagnostic procedure (see «SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION»(ref-220622-S30713214262006022100000) ). Does the MIL flash? YES- Go to step 3 . NO- Substitute a known-good gauge assembly, and recheck. If the MIL circuit is OK, replace the original gauge assembly.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and watch the MIL. Does the MIL stay off? YES- Go to step 19 . NO- Go to step 5 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), wait 20 seconds, and watch the MIL. Does the MIL stay on or flash more than 5 times? YES- Go to step 7 . NO- The MIL circuit is OK.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Connect the HDS (see «GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION»(ref-220569-S20216730692006022000000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and read the HDS. Does the HDS communicate with the ECM/PCM? YES- Go to step 10 . NO- Go to "DLC Circuit Troubleshooting" (see «DLC CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-220570-S13269917602006022000000) ).
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES- Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO- Go to step 11 .
- Check the MIL in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is ON indicated? YES- Go to step 12 . NO- Substitute a known-good gauge assembly, and recheck. If the MIL circuit is OK, replace the original gauge assembly (see «GAUGE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT»(ref-220622-S01752200552006022100000) ).
- Check the SCS in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is a short indicated? YES- Go to step 13 . NO- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P), then disconnect the HDS.
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal E29 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short in the wire between the ECM/PCM (E29) and the DLC. NO- Go to step 17 .
- Disconnect gauge assembly connector B (16P).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal E31 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short in the wire between the ECM/PCM (E31) and the gauge assembly. NO- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ).
- Try to start the engine. Does the engine start? YES- Go to step 20 . NO- Go to step 26 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Connect ECM/PCM connector terminal E31 to body ground with a jumper wire.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II). Is the MIL on? YES- Go to step 23 . NO- Check for an open in the wire between the ECM/PCM (E31) and the gauge assembly.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Connect the HDS (see «GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION»(ref-220569-S20216730692006022000000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and read the HDS. Does the HDS communicate with the ECM/PCM? YES- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ). NO- Go to "DLC Circuit Troubleshooting" (see «DLC CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-220570-S13269917602006022000000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Inspect the No. 20 IG1 (50 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box. Is the fuse OK? YES- Check for an open in the wire between the No. 20 IG1 (50 A) fuse and the ignition switch. If the wire is OK, go to step 28 . NO- Repair short in the wire between No. 20 IG1 (50 A) fuse and the under-hood fuse/relay box. Also replace the No. 20 IG1 (50 A) fuse.
- Inspect the No. 6 FI ECU (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box. Is the fuse OK? YES- Go to step 35 . NO- Go to step 29 .
- Remove the blown No. 6 FI ECU (15 A) fuse from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Remove the glove box (see «GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-220597-S26723889242006022100000) ) and PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) (A).
- Check for continuity between body ground and PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) 4P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 4 individually. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short in the wire between the No. 6 FI ECU (15 A) fuse and PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN). Also replace the No. 6 FI ECU (15 A) fuse. NO- Go to step 32 .
- Disconnect each of the components or connectors below, one at a time, and check for continuity between PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) 4P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP) ECM/PCM connector A (31P) Each injector 2P connector Idle air control (IAC) valve 3P connector Camshaft position (CMP) sensor B 3P connector Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor 3P connector Is there continuity? YES- Go to step 33 . NO- Replace the component that made the short to body ground go away when disconnected. If the item is the ECM/PCM, update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ). Also replace the No. 6 FI ECU (15 A) fuse.
- Disconnect the connectors from these components: PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP) ECM/PCM connector A (31P) Injectors Idle air control (IAC) valve Camshaft position (CMP) sensor B Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor
- Check for continuity between PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) 4P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short in the wire between PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) and each item. Also replace the No. 6 FI ECU (15 A) fuse. NO- Replace PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN). Also replace the No. 6 FI ECU (15 A) fuse.
- Inspect the No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box. Is the fuse OK? YES- Go to step 48 . NO- Go to step 36 .
- Remove the blown No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse from the under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal E9 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Go to step 40 . NO- Replace the No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse, and update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ).
- Remove the glove box (see «GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-220597-S26723889242006022100000) ), and remove PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP) (A) from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal E9 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short in the wire between the No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse and the ECM/PCM (E9), or between the No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse and PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP). Also replace the No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse. NO- Go to step 42 .
- Remove the center console (see «CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-220596-S10314966712006022100000) ), the cargo floor covering (see «FRONT FLOOR COVERING»(ref-220595-S23251885042006022100000) ), and both door sill trims (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(ref-220595-S41722068182006022100000) ).
- Fold back the floor covering until the access panel is accessible.
- Disconnect the fuel pump 5P connector.
- Check for continuity between fuel pump 5P connector terminal No. 5 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short in the wire between the fuel pump and PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP). Also replace the No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse. NO- Go to step 46 .
- Reinstall PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP) (A).
- Check for continuity between fuel pump 5P connector terminal No. 5 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Replace PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP). Also replace the No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse. NO- Check the fuel pump, and replace it if necessary. Also replace the No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between ECM/PCM connector terminal E9 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES- Go to step 52 . NO- Repair open in the wire between the No. 17 FUEL PUMP (15 A) fuse and the ECM/PCM (E9).
- Measure voltage between ECM/PCM connector terminal E7 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES- Go to step 57 . NO- Go to step 53 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Remove the glove box (see «GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-220597-S26723889242006022100000) ), then remove PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) (A) from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Measure voltage between PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) 4P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES- Go to step 56 . NO- Repair open in the wire between the No. 6 FI ECU (15 A) fuse and PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN).
- Check for continuity between PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) 4P connector terminal No. 3 and ECM/PCM connector terminal E7. Is there continuity? YES- Test PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(ref-220620-S08922687602006022100000) ). If the relay is OK, update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ). NO- Repair open in the wire between PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) and the ECM/PCM (E7).
- Reconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminals A2 and A3 individually. Is there battery voltage? YES- Go to step 66 . NO- Go to step 60 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Remove PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) (A).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) 4P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES- Go to step 64 . NO- Repair open in the wire between the No. 6 FI ECU (15 A) fuse and PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Check for continuity between PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) 4P connector terminal No. 1 and ECM/PCM connector terminals A2 and A3 individually. Is there continuity? YES- Replace PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN). NO- Repair open in the wire between PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) and the ECM/PCM (A2, A3).
- Measure voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminals A4, A5, A8, and A9 individually. Is there more than 0.2 V? YES- Repair open in the wire(s) that had more than 0.2 V between G101 and the ECM/PCM (A4, A5, A8, A9). NO- 2003-2004 models: Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ). 2005-2006 models: Go to step 67 .
- Measure voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminal A21. Is there about 5 V? YES- Go to step 75 . NO- Go to step 68 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the connector from each of these sensors, one at a time, and measure voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminal A21 with the ignition switch ON (II). MAP sensor Output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor Is there about 5 V? YES- Replace the sensor that restored 5 V when disconnected. NO- Go to step 70 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect the connectors from these sensors: MAP sensor Output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector A (31P).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal A21 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A21) and the MAP sensor, or the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor. NO- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ).
- Measure voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminal A20. Is there about 5 V? YES- Go to step 83 . NO- Go to step 76 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the connector from each of these sensors, one at a time, and measure voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminal A20 with the ignition switch ON (II). TP sensor Input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor Is there about 5 V? YES- Replace the sensor that restored 5 V when disconnected. NO- Go to step 78 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect the connector from these sensors: TP sensor Input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector A (31P).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal A20 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A20) and the TP sensor, or the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor or EGR valve. NO- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ).
- Measure voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminal E5. Is there about 5 V? YES- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ). NO- Go to step 84 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the FTP sensor 3P connector, and measure voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminal E5 with the ignition switch ON (II). Is there about 5 V? YES- Replace the FTP sensor (see «FTP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220577-S39356661002006022000000) ). NO- Go to step 86 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect the FTP sensor 3P connector.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal E5 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short in the wire between the ECM/PCM (E5) and the FTP sensor. NO- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ).
DLC Circuit Troubleshooting
Note. If the ECM/PCM does not communicate with the HDS or I/M test equipment, do this troubleshooting procedure. Check that MIL circuit is normal, then do this troubleshooting.

- Measure voltage between DLC terminal No. 16 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES- Go to step 2 . NO- Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 16 and the No. 9 BACK UP (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 4 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES- Go to step 3 . NO- Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 4 and body ground (G451).
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES- Go to step 4 . NO- Repair open in the wire between the ECM/PCM (E3) and DLC terminal No. 5.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there 8.5 V or more? YES- Go to step 11 . NO- Go to step 6 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
- Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES- Repair short to ground in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the ECM/PCM (E23). After repairing the wire, check for a DTC with the HDS, then go to the «DTC TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-220570-S01813257032006022000000) . NO- Go to step 10 .
- Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7 and ECM/PCM terminal E23. Is there continuity? YES- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ). NO- Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the ECM/PCM (E23). - Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there 0 V? YES- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ). NO- Repair short to power in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the ECM/PCM (E23). After repairing the wire, check for a DTC with the HDS, then go to the «DTC TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-220570-S01813257032006022000000) .

- Relieve fuel pressure (see «FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING»(ref-220573-S24675581272006022000000) ).
- Remove the intake manifold cover (see step 3 on «REMOVAL»(ref-220566-S41055966322006022000000) ).
- Disconnect the connectors from the injectors (A).
- Remove the ground cable bolt (G101) (B).
- Disconnect the quick-connect fittings (C).
- Remove the fuel rail mounting nuts (D) from the fuel rail (E).
- Remove the injector clip (F) from the injector.
- Remove the injector from the fuel rail.
- Coat the new O-rings (A) with clean engine oil, and insert the injectors (B) into the fuel rail (C).
- Install the injector clip (D).
- Coat the injector O-rings (E) with clean engine oil.
- Install the injectors in the injector base (F).
- Install the fuel rail mounting nuts (G) and the ground cable bolt (G101).
- Connect the connectors on the injectors.
- Connect the quick-connect fitting (see «FUEL LINE/QUICK-CONNECT FITTING INSTALLATION»(ref-220573-S14346022232006022000000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel pressure in the fuel line rises. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.
- Install the intake manifold cover.
