DTC P2610: ECM/PCM Ignition Off Internal Timer Malfunction (2006 model) Honda Element I

Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  2. Clear the DTC with the HDS (see «HDS CLEAR COMMAND»(ref-220569-S34447482972006022000000) ).
  3. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2610 indicated? YES- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-220569-S23624043112006022000000) ), then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM/PCM, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-220570-S17955277902006022000000) ). NO- Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ECM/PCM.
