DTC P1164: A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) Circuit Range/Performance Problem, DTC P2A00: A/F Sensor (Sensor 1)* Range/ Performance Problem* Honda CR-V II

Note. Information marked with an asterisk (*) applies to '04 model.

  1. Reset the ECM/PCM (see «HOW TO RESET THE ECM/PCM»(ref-171385-S07999163522005020300000) ).
  2. Start the engine. Hold the engine at 3,000 RPM with no load (in Park or neutral) until the radiator fan comes on.
  3. Test-drive in 2 position (M/T in 3rd gear). Starting at 1,600 RPM, accelerate using wide open throttle for at least 5 seconds. Then decelerate for at least 5 seconds with the throttle completely closed until the A/F monitor readiness code is set to complete, or Temporary DTC P1164 (P2A00)* comes on.
  4. Check for a Temporary DTC with the scan tool or the HDS. Is Temporary DTC P1164 (P2A00)* indicated? YES - Replace the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) (see «A/F Sensor Replacement»(ref-171386-S12321824092005020300000) ). NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor relay, at the A/F sensor (Sensor 1), and at the ECM/PCM.
