Primary HO2S and A/F Sensor Replacement

Special Tools Required

  1. O2 sensor wrench, Snap-on YA8875, SP Tools 93750, or equivalent, commercially available

  1. Disconnect the primary HO2S or A/F sensor 4P connector (A), then remove the primary HO2S or A/F sensor (B).
  2. Install the primary HO2S or A/F sensor in the reverse order of removal.

Secondary HO2S Replacement

Special Tools Required

  1. O2 sensor wrench, Snap-on YA8875, SP Tools 93750, or equivalent, commercially available

Note. The secondary HO2S and the third HO2S must be replaced together (D17A6 engine except '01 model)

  1. Disconnect the secondary HO2S 4P connector (A), then remove the secondary HO2S (B).
  2. Install the secondary HO2S in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 396: MAP Sensor Replacement
  1. Disconnect the MAP sensor 3P connector.
  2. Remove the MAP sensor (A).
  3. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (B).

  1. Remove the intake manifold (see «INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-173102-S31192253292005030900000) ).
  2. Disconnect the knock sensor 3P connector.
  3. Remove the knock sensor (A).
  4. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Remove the cylinder head cover (see «CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL»(ref-173102-S11314792342005030900000) ).
  2. Remove the crankshaft pulley (see «CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-173102-S06730984672005030900000) ).
  3. Remove the grommet (A) from the upper cover (B), and disconnect the TDC sensor connector (C).
  4. Remove the upper cover and lower cover (D).
  5. Disconnect the CKP sensor connector, then remove the CKP sensor (A) from the oil pump.
  6. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Disconnect the ECT sensor 2P connector.
  2. Remove the ECT sensor (A).
  3. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (B), then refill the radiator with engine coolant (see page 10-8).

  1. Remove the cylinder head cover (see «CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL»(ref-173102-S11314792342005030900000) ).
  2. Remove the grommet (A) from the upper cover (B), and disconnect the CMP (TDC) sensor connector (C).
  3. Remove the upper cover.
  4. Remove the CMP (TDC) sensor (A) from the cylinder head.
  5. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 403: IAT Sensor Replacement
  1. Disconnect the IAT sensor 2P connector.
  2. Remove the IAT sensor (A).
  3. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.

Third HO2S Replacement

Special Tools Required

  1. O2 sensor wrench, Snap-on YA8875, SP Tools 93750, or equivalent, commercially available

Note. The secondary HO2S and the third HO2S must be replaced together.

  1. Disconnect the third HO2S 4P connector (A), then remove the third HO2S (B).
  2. Install the third HO2S in the reverse order of removal.
