DTC P1297 - ELECTRICAL LOAD DETECTOR (ELD) Honda Accord V

  1. Perform ECM reset procedure. See «ECM RESET PROCEDURE/CLEARING CODES»(ref-15920-S38816828192001122700000) . Start engine. Turn headlights on. If DTC P1297 is not indicated, system is okay at this time. Failure is intermittent. Check for poor connections or loose wires at ELD and ECM connectors. If DTC P1297 is indicated, measure voltage between ELD connector terminal No. 2 (Green/Red wire) and body ground. If approximately 5 volts is present, replace ELD. If approximately 5 volts is not present, turn ignition off.
  2. Disconnect ECM connector "D". Check for continuity between ECM connector terminal D16 and body ground. If there is continuity, repair short in Green/Red wire between ECM and ELD. If there is no continuity, substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. If symptom or problem goes away, replace original ECM.
