SYMPTOM CHART

PINPOINT TEST A: THE AUDIBLE PARKING AID IS INOPERATIVE

  1. A1 VERIFY CORRECT CHIME OPERATION FOR ALL MODULES With the key in the ignition open the driver door and verify the chime works. Does the chime operate correctly? Yes : GO to A2. No : REFER to «INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES»(ref-569587) to diagnose the chime(s) concern.
  2. A2 VERIFY MODULE COMMUNICATION OF ALL MODULES Using a scan tool, perform "NETWORK" self-test. Did all modules pass the network test? Yes : GO to A3. No : REFER to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-569552) to diagnose the concern.
  3. A3 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE PAM SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform PAM self-test. Are any PAM DTCs recorded? Yes : REFER to the «PAM DTC Chart»(ref-569603-S40483694982013082100000) . No : GO to A4.
  4. A4 CHECK FOR CORRECT MESSAGE CENTER AND/OR CENTERSTACK DISPLAY OPERATION For rear parking aid, while observing the display, disable and enable the parking aid system with the message center function. For front and rear parking aid, while observing the display, disable and enable the parking aid system with the disable switch. While observing the display, disable and enable the parking aid system. Is PARK AID OFF displayed when the parking aid system is disabled, and PARK AID ON displayed when the parking aid system is enabled? Yes : GO to A5. No : REFER to «INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES»(ref-569587) .
  5. A5 CHECK FOR CORRECT GEAR INPUT Apply the parking brake. Ignition ON. For a rear parking aid concern, select REVERSE. For a front parking aid concern, select DRIVE. Using a scan tool, view IPC PIDs. Monitor the IPC transmission gear display (GEAR_DISP) PID. Does the PID match the gearshift selector position? Yes : GO to A6. No : REFER to «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 6F35»(ref-569558) .
  6. A6 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform IPC self-test. Are any IPC DTCs recorded? Yes : REFER to the IPC DTC Chart in section «INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES»(ref-569587) . No : GO to A7.
  7. A7 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE ACM SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform ACM self-test. Are any ACM DTCs recorded? Yes : Refer to «INFORMATION SYSTEM AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - 4.2 INCH DISPLAY»(ref-569631) , «INFORMATION SYSTEM AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - 8 INCH TOUCHSCREEN»(ref-569632) , «INFORMATION SYSTEM AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - MONOCHROMATIC DISPLAY»(ref-569630) , or «INFORMATION SYSTEM AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - SONY 8 INCH TOUCHSCREEN»(ref-569633) for DTC Charts and procedures. No : GO to A8.
  8. A8 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the PAM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «PARKING AID MODULE (PAM)»(ref-569603-S04307691352013072700000) . If the concern is still present after module replacement. GO to A9. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  9. A9 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPC OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the IPC connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the IPC connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to «INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES»(ref-569587) . If the concern is still present after module replacement. GO to A10. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  10. A10 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the BCM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to «MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES»(ref-569586) . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.

PINPOINT TEST D: DTC B1B44:12, B1B46:12, B1B48:12 OR B1B50:12

  1. D1 RETRIEVE THE DTCs FROM THE PAM SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform PAM self-test. Are multiple DTCs recorded? Yes : GO to D2. No : For DTCs, B1B44:12, B1B46:12 B1B48:12 and B1B50:12, GO to D3 . For all other DTCs, REFER to the «PAM DTC Chart»(ref-569603-S40483694982013082100000) .
  2. D2 CHECK THE BUMPER WIRING HARNESS Inspect the bumper wiring harness for opens, shorts, grounds, or corrosion. Is the bumper wiring harness OK? Yes : GO to D3. No : REPAIR or INSTALL a new bumper wiring harness.
  3. D3 CHECK THE SENSOR CIRCUITRY FOR SHORTS TO VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Suspect Parking Aid Sensor C4009, C4010, C4011 and/or C4012. Disconnect: PAM C4014C. Ignition ON. Measure the voltage between: Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit DTC B1B44:12 C4011-2 VMP17 (YE/OG) - Ground DTC B1B46:12 C4012-2 VMP16 (YE/GY) - Ground DTC B1B48:12 C4009-2 VMP15 (YE/GN) - Ground DTC B1B50:12 C4010-2 VMP14 (WH/OG) - Ground Is any voltage present? Yes : REPAIR the affected circuit. No : If all sensor DTCs are set, GO to D5 . Otherwise, GO to D4.
  4. D4 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSORS Install a known good parking aid sensor(s) for each of the suspect parking aid sensor(s). Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test. Test the system for normal operation. Is the concern still present? Yes : GO to D5. No : If one or more parking aid sensor(s) recorded DTCs, INSTALL a new sensor(s) for the one(s) in question. REFER to «PARKING AID SENSOR - REAR»(ref-569603-S19507621142013072700000) .
  5. D5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the PAM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «PARKING AID MODULE (PAM)»(ref-569603-S04307691352013072700000) . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.

PINPOINT TEST E: DTC B1B44:96, B1B46:96, B1B48:96 OR B1B50:96

  1. E1 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE PAM SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform PAM self-test. Are parking aid DTCs other than B1B44:96, B1B46:96, B1B48:96 and B1B50:96 recorded? Yes : DIAGNOSE the other DTCs first. REFER to the «PAM DTC Chart»(ref-569603-S40483694982013082100000) . No : GO to E2.
  2. E2 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR OPERATION NOTE: Make sure the area around the vehicle is clear of anything that can activate the parking aid system. Clean the rear bumper and sensors with high-pressure water. Carry out the azimuth system check. Refer to «AZIMUTH SYSTEM CHECK»(ref-569603-S34805891302013072700000) . Perform the elevation system check. Refer to «ELEVATION SYSTEM CHECK»(ref-569603-S07971358732013072700000) . Does the parking aid system pass both system checks? Yes : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a dirty or blocked parking aid sensor. No : GO to E3.
  3. E3 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSORS Ignition OFF. Install a new sensor for the suspect parking aid sensor. Refer to «PARKING AID SENSOR - REAR»(ref-569603-S19507621142013072700000) . Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : GO to E4. No : The cause of the concern was an inoperative parking aid sensor. The system is now operating correctly.
  4. E4 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the PAM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «PARKING AID MODULE (PAM)»(ref-569603-S04307691352013072700000) . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.

PINPOINT TEST H: DTC B1B36:96, B1B38:96, B1B40:96 OR B1B42:96

  1. H1 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE PAM SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform PAM self-test. Are parking aid DTCs other than B1B36:96, B1B38:96, B1B40:96 and B1B42:96 recorded? Yes : DIAGNOSE the other DTCs first. REFER to the «PAM DTC Chart»(ref-569603-S40483694982013082100000) . No : GO to H2.
  2. H2 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR OPERATION NOTE: Make sure the area around the vehicle is clear of anything that can activate the parking aid system. Clean the rear bumper and sensors with high-pressure water. Carry out the azimuth system check. Refer to «AZIMUTH SYSTEM CHECK»(ref-569603-S34805891302013072700000) . Perform the elevation system check. Refer to «ELEVATION SYSTEM CHECK»(ref-569603-S07971358732013072700000) . Does the parking aid system pass both system checks?   3. H3 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSORS Install a new sensor for the suspect parking aid sensor. Refer to «PARKING AID SENSOR - FRONT»(ref-569603-S31714781862013072700000) . Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : GO to H4. No : The cause of the concern was an inoperative parking aid sensor. The system is now operating correctly.
  4. H4 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the PAM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «PARKING AID MODULE (PAM)»(ref-569603-S04307691352013072700000) . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.

PINPOINT TEST K: DTC U0100:87

  1. K1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN Ignition ON. Verify that there is an observable symptom present. Is an observable symptom present? Yes : GO to K2. No : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. K2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform the network test. Does the PCM pass the network test? Yes : GO to K3. No : REFER to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-569552) , The PCM Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
  3. K3 RECHECK THE PAM DTCs Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs. Operate the system and test the system for normal operation. Using a scan tool, repeat the PAM self-test. Is DTC U0100:87 still present? Yes : GO to K4. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  4. K4 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE DTCs Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC U3003:62 set in the PAM? Yes : GO to «PINPOINT TEST N»(ref-569603-S27495156842013072700000) . No : GO to K5.
  5. K5 CHECK FOR DTC U0100:00 OR DTC U0100:87 IN OTHER MODULES Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs. Ignition OFF. Ignition ON. Wait 10 seconds. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC U0100:00 or DTC U0100:87 set in any module? Yes : INSTALL a new PCM.   6. K6 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the PAM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «PARKING AID MODULE (PAM)»(ref-569603-S04307691352013072700000) . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.

PINPOINT TEST L: DTC U0121:87

  1. L1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN Ignition ON. Verify that there is an observable symptom present. Is an observable symptom present? Yes : GO to L2. No : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. L2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform the network test. Does the ABS module pass the network test? Yes : GO to L3. No : REFER to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-569552) , The ABS Module Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
  3. L3 RECHECK THE PAM DTCs Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs. Operate the system and test the system for normal operation. Using a scan tool, repeat the PAM self-test. Is DTC U0121:87 still present? Yes : GO to L4. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  4. L4 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE DTCs Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC U3003:62 set in the PAM? Yes : GO to «PINPOINT TEST N»(ref-569603-S27495156842013072700000) . No : GO to L5.
  5. L5 CHECK FOR DTC U0121:00 OR DTC U0121:87 IN OTHER MODULES Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs. Ignition OFF. Ignition ON. Wait 10 seconds. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC U0121:00 or DTC U0121:87 set in any module? Yes : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to «ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND STABILITY CONTROL»(ref-569593) . No : GO to L6.
  6. L6 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the PAM connectors. PINPOINT TEST M: DTC U0140:87

  1. M1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN Ignition ON. Verify that there is an observable symptom present. Is an observable symptom present? Yes : GO to M2. No : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. M2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform the network test. Does the BCM pass the network test? Yes : GO to M3. No : REFER to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-569552) , The BCM Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
  3. M3 RECHECK THE PAM DTCs Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs. Operate the system and test the system for normal operation. Using a scan tool, repeat the PAM self-test. Is DTC U0140:87 still present? Yes : GO to M4. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  4. M4 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE DTCs Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC U3003:62 set in the PAM? Yes : GO to «PINPOINT TEST N»(ref-569603-S27495156842013072700000) . No : GO to M5.
  5. M5 CHECK FOR DTC U0140:00 OR DTC U0140:87 IN OTHER MODULES Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs. Ignition OFF. Ignition ON. Wait 10 seconds. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC U0140:00 or DTC U0140:87 set in any module? Yes : INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to «MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES»(ref-569586) . No : GO to M6.
  6. M6 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the PAM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. PINPOINT TEST N: DTC U3003:62

  1. N1 COMPARE THE BCM AND PAM VOLTAGE PIDs (MOD_SUP_V) AND (VOLTSUP_PAM) Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, view BCM PID MOD_SUP_V. Using a scan tool, view PAM PID VOLTSUP_PAM. Is the PAM PID within 0.5 volt of the BCM PID? Yes : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to a previous low battery voltage condition. No : GO to N2.
  2. N2 CHECK THE PAM VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT Ignition ON. Disconnect: PAM C4014A. Measure the voltage between: Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4014A-1 CBR01 (BU) - Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes : GO to N3. No : REPAIR the circuit.
  3. N3 CHECK THE PAM GROUND SUPPLY CIRCUIT Ignition OFF. Measure the resistance between: Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4014A-8 GD152 (BK/BU) - Ground Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes : GO to N4. No : REPAIR the circuit.
  4. N4 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all the PAM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs.
