The coils are attached to a compact box located and fastened on the cylinder head
EW10J4 engine
- "double computer-coil" ignition
- 2 sparks occur, one at the end of the compression stroke, the other during the exhaust phase (wasted spark)
EW12J4 engine
- Static ignition
- One ignition coil per cylinder, directly over the spark plug

- Tightening torque: 2,5 daNm
Injection ECU (1320)
The coil command and power stages are incorporated into the ECU (there is no external ignition module)
Static ignition
Application: EW12J4 engine
The injection ECU supplies each coil firing order: 1-3-4-2
The synchronisation of ignition is achieved by the sensor of the N°1 reference cylinder
"double computer-coil" ignition
Application: EW10J4 engine
The ECU supplies each of the 2 coil primaries
The ECU selects the cylinder torques 1-4 and 3-2 through the information from the engine speed sensor
